It’s never been about ‘mutilation’ it’s always been about the control and denial of autonomy over one‘s own body.
The hypocrisy is clear. Banning gender-affirming care denies the bodily rights of transgender adolescents and defies respected medical, scientific, and mental health recommendations. The actual genital mutilation happening on intersex infants and young children, in the same bill text, is endorsed.

The thing is, you can't make trans and intersex people nonexistent, you can only make them suffer.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

Besides the fact that TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN, some cis women are born without uteruses, some intersex people are born with uteruses and can have any gender identity, and also my mom didn’t stop being a woman when she had a hysterectomy.

The scars have been there as long as Emory Hufbauer can remember. When Hufbauer was a baby, doctors performed an operation that took away their fertility and ability to produce their own hormones; they also describe it emphatically as intersex genital mutilation.

Victoria will become the first Australian state to ban unnecessary surgeries on intersex children, with legislation to be introduced to parliament to ensure procedures are deferred until patients are old enough to consent to them.
The health minister, Mary-Anne Thomas, will on Tuesday introduce the health safeguards for people born with variations in sex characteristics bill, which if passed would prohibit deferrable, irreversible procedures and treatments on intersex infants and children until they can provide informed consent.
