When a pedestrian is not paying attention and walks into something, no one dies. When a driver is not paying attention and drives into something people are often injured/killed. How long will it fucking take for society to STOP EQUATING THE TWO?

Imagine if the city doesn’t repair the Old Y and we get a police station instead where the cops pick what community orgs are allowed to be there
Farkas asks what downtown police station would look like. Police say they are keen to sketch that out collaboratively. Farkas says it would be less of a precinct, more of a community hub with amenities like those that were at Old Y. More preventative in nature. #yyccc

In 2015, the province announced coal power would be phased out by 2030.
In 2024, the last coal plant shut down, six years ahead of schedule.

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.
