Time to update my intro!

I'm Chris Tihor, a game writer and designer, and founder of @ironiciconicstudios.ca. I've worked on a bunch of things but may be best known for working on Nancy Drew and Poirot games. More recently I worked on Monaco 2 and (the sadly cancelled) Life by You.

I'd add to that, that if we want these parties to have a chance, and for their ideas to be heard, we'd do well to get back on the issue of voting reform and proportional representation, as with @fairvote.ca . Otherwise same old same old just keeps doing the same dance over and over.

I'd like to think that PM Mark Carney is actually trying to help the Canadian economy, but he seems to be trying to do it by doubling down on the old way of doing things: focusing on exploiting natural resources, supporting established big business, etc. IMO, this is a path of diminishing returns.

Genuinely feels like there's been a coup within the Liberal party thanks to Carney and his bros.

Not to say Trudeau's Liberals were much better (they bought a pipeline!) but Carney is a full-blown red tory and I'm shocked more Liberals aren't outraged their party has been usurped like this.
Super cool that we've got a deal for a path towards a pipeline that's tied to a carbon capture project, as if that makes it okay

when carbon capture one of the most expensive and least effective options for addressing climate change, and oil companies often use it to EXTRACT MORE OIL!!!!

I remember running into a couple on bikes visiting from Portland OR who couldn't believe how great the cycling was in Victoria. And this was before most of the infrastructure had been built downtown. Now it's even better! #YYJ

This is a thing of beauty.
Hundreds of Starbucks baristas and labor organizers blockaded Starbucks' largest distribution center in York, Pennsylvania, halting distribution of syrups, coffee beans, and other supplies to the entire northeast.

This escalation is part of @sbworkersunited.org's ongoing strike.

This is the Alberta government saying the rights of trans kids to receive life-saving health care, go by their own pronouns at school or play on sport teams don’t matter as much as the Smith government’s right to dictate their lives.

Addendum to the "fake it 'til you make it" repost:

If you want to be something, then just be it, in the best way that you understand. Eg. Want to be a writer? Then write.

You're not going to be good when you start - trust me, nobody is. But if you keep doing it, you will get better.

I think "fake it til' you make it" is genuinely a great bit of advice but people (understandably!) think it means "lie until you've duped everyone" when in reality it's much more "act like you belong here because you actually do and you need to get over yourself"

On Monday, we published this investigation into "Exiles of the Golden Age," a fascist conference in Vancouver this July.

We identified 18 of the 50+ people our photographer captured outside the venue, including small business owners and neo-Nazis.

Here's how we did it. 🧵

We've tried increasing police budgets and that hasn't helped with the unhoused. Maybe we should spend the money on housing instead?
Here's a thread with an annual reminder that VicPD is overfunded and overstaffed. VicPD likes to say it's a special exception as a "downtown" police force, but they cost more per capita than every other department in B.C., including Vancouver. #yyj 🧵

I legitimately think this article misses the mark, because Canadians are not avoiding travel out of some principled boycott of the USA over tariffs.

Canadians who are avoiding the USA are seeing images of masked government thugs kidnapping people and teargassing children.

He made several stops along the way, allowing passengers to get on and off, police say. He was then arrested.
