i think something missing in all the "liberals need to come back to twitter. actually everyone needs to transition to video content" discourse is that some people aren't logging on to social media to change hearts and minds. some of us are just talking shit

This guy fucking sucks. If he ever becomes president we are fucked forever. Just late stage capitalism until we’re dust.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's son was pulled over by ICE and forced to prove he is an American.

Two options:

1) ICE deliberately targeted him.

2) ICE is stopping all non-White people without any probable cause and forcing them to prove they are citizens.

Hard to say which option is scarier.

It would have been so great if it had happened during the Video Game Awards and millions of people found out from Geoff freaking Keighly.

The media is entirely responsible for Donald Trump in our lives and Elon Musk as well. Real engineers and scientists knew he was a moron long ago. I was told repeatedly by my brother and his nerds at JPL that Elon was a dolt. But tech press don't know shit either and access is the name of the game.

I know it’s sort of silly to rag on the NYT for viewing Hitler favorably 90 years ago. It’s true, but also those people are in hell now. But maybe more meaningful is that the Old Gray Lady was pro drunk driving in the 80s. It’s a pattern. This paper is vile.
since driving discourse is raging on the timeline, i guess it's time to reup this, the greatest op ed the NYT ever ran

One of these days we’re going to have to face the fact that we elected a bunch of democrats who don’t want to do things. Generally they don’t disagree with Trump and don’t mind any of this. There are exceptions, but that’s like 10-15 elected Dems tops. Bidens and Obamas throughout.
Democrats should commit now to not recognizing any pardons issued in advance of charges. Tell Trump administration officials that preemptive pardons will not be honored by a future Democratic administration and that criminals will be arrested.
"Trump Is Already Discussing Preemptive Pardons For His Lawless Administration"

The revelation comes as Pete Hegseth faces scrutiny for a possible war crime, and as a judge pursues a contempt inquiry into the defiance of his order.

Seems like if a guy in a mask and an unmarked car with no badge hops into your car and starts threatening you, he should probably go to prison, no? These dudes are lucky they don’t get shot in the face every single day.

AP on Trump now, and Biden in June 2022.

For Trump, declining to 36 percent approval is “good news.”

For Biden, holding steady at 41% is “a source of concern.”

Here’s a thing outlets need to understand: if I KNOW that some of your articles are dogshit rage bait, I can’t trust ANY of them. I know this guy isn’t dumb enough to think any of this stuff is true. So how do I know which articles are real and which are goofs? So I’ll just never read The Atlantic.

Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

He suggested that peaceful protesters should be thrown off the Golden Gate Bridge

And before that, he advocated for Trump to use troops against protesters-implying they should be shot

Anyone else want to put Tom Cotton on top of a capsized boat in international waters miles away from Venezuela and see how helpless he is?

I’m sorry it’s very funny this guy blocked me. I could have gone much harder on a WaPo journalist celebrating the downfall of the post office and shilling for Amazon with hearts in his eyes. The guy was obscenely wrong and unbelievably biased. Why even come here with that?
I literally don’t think the Bezos post should be allowed to report on Amazon. Like writing a single word about it is journalistic malpractice. But to frame it like this should be straight illegal.
