Assuming as little ill intent as possible, this read to me as a coach who understands that fans like the player more than they like him and that they’re going to blame him for the player underperforming and is trying to do anything to say “i mean, the player has to get some blame here too, right?”
I basically agree with Alex's comments on the show yesterday. Not absolving Michkov if he's showing up late for treatments and whatnot, but you really could have kept that stuff in-house. It would one thing if one of us in the media reports it first. But the HC just putting it out there?

Crazy to think the bar the Flyers set was “we’re gonna be good enough that we don’t sell at the trade deadline” and then they tried to force that reality by extending Dvorak and they’re still probably going to have to sell at the trade deadline.
I think the most interesting baseline that Jonesy set in that presser was when he said (paraphrased) "we're not selling at the trade deadline this year." Low bar, but unambiguous and can't be talked around by saying things like "well we're happy b/c we liked how our guys grew during the season".
