“Nature is no longer the rustic retreat of the Wordsworthian poet. … [it] is now a pressing political question, a question of survival.”

I hate that! And then you remember at the most inopportune moment with no possible way of writing it down

Just want to remind everyone that little moments of joy are so important right now.

For instance, my cat does not understand the human concept of kisses beyond Incoming Nose = Love. So every time she’s happy, she’ll smush her face or shove her nose into ours.

Please share your joys with us.

Every morning a new spiderweb,
gossamer, woven;
my arms ache from clearing them.
The spiders cackle in their corner
when I ask for a #respite.
They know how to build a web.

Q: Are you planning to invoke the Insurrection Act?

TRUMP: Well, it's been invoked before. If you look at Chicago -- Chicago is a great city where's a lot of crime and if the governor can't do the job, we'll do that job.

We are in that part of autumn where the wish to hurry home before dark becomes more pronounced and yet we can't fully articulate just why this is so. The redundant lamplighter phantoms come earlier and earlier. As does our unease in certain places. This season pokes with fingers of fear. – #DAKilroy

The raindrops #accumulate
into a puddle, a pond, a lake.
Now we are underwater,
playacting that we have gills and
dreading the day when we will
have to reckon with
what the water leaves behind

Love the idea of the ocean holding all of our sadness and turning it into waves and sand and shell—beautiful!

I've never seen the moon
balanced so neatly on a branch.
A snowy owl poised to swoop

Amazing! I recently finished The Unfinished Harauld Hughes, and My Eyes! My Eyes! sounds like it could be a Hughes play.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hold on a second. Answer the question. As Speaker, do you believe it's appropriate to use American cities as training grounds for the military, calling those people 'the enemy within'?

JOHNSON: I'm not comment on your characterization of what the president said.

S: Those are quotes

Important information from the Richard Scarry book I picked up at the charity shop
Big cat and little cat read together. The caption reads ‘all animals love to read books’

I wanted to make a bird for you to fly off with
into the smooth clean line of the horizon, but
these days all I have is muted light and fog that
#blur the line between what is here and what
isn't

The good news is that we have high-tech alien medbeds that can cure all illness and injury

The bad news is that they assume the user is a hyper-intelligent car-sized mollusk and they’ll rearrange your body to live in the atmospheric ocean of a distant gas giant

These days I am fascinated by wave formation;
the blue-gray sea roiling up in frantic arches
only to come booming down, Sisyphus unable
to escape, dredging a few #nasty bits from the
deep: glops of seaweed; a rack of stark, unforgiving
bone; an empty home, picked clean

"So I find myself often having to put devices away, ... and really start noticing the strangeness of the world. But it’s not just in nature. Human beings are bizarre. Our existence is bizarre."

The subtext of this whole Tylenol thing is "if the mother doesn't suffer enough pain, she must be punished," right?
