We also should improve the system from bottom up, through a universal basic income, tax-funded education and universal health care. That would create a "livable middle." /1

That's how it should be done, every race top to bottom, every state, even if it seems hopeless. Run, and run again, get candidate name and party platform familiarity out there. Discuss the issues, debate republicans. Everywhere.
Buried in this article is the astonishing news that "Across the state Democrats have recruited candidates to run in all 150 state House districts, 16 state Senate districts and every other state and federal contest on the ballot". G-d bless Texas, get on their level.

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com
