It is also worth noting - since your government makes data driven decisions - the previous agreement did not keep up with inflation. And your current offer is also below inflation.
BCGEU has already fallen behind. Your offer is asking them to fall even further behind.

The numbers are from BC Stats.
A document showing annual inflation rates from Canada, BC, Vancouver, and Victoria.
Going on the record defending why your government isn't offering a fair deal by inflating the previous deal by 5% isn't a good negotiation tactic.

@davidebybc.bsky.social people are struggling. And according to you, they already got this. Come back with a fair deal.

DRAFT SEGMENT 009

Hon. David Eby: The member raised a couple of points that deserve to be addressed.

First of all, the provinces. We had a much more generous agreement with the BCGEU than other provinces did. They're playing catch-up with their workers, with their current agreements. We had an 18 percent increase over the term of the contract, which was better than inflation over the period of time of record inflation I will note. When we had the resources and we're able to do it, we make sure that we're able to bring our workers along with us.

The other piece about the size of the public service, I agree. We've got to slim down the administration within the public service. We've reduced full-time equivalents by more than 800 in just the last few months, and we're going to continue to do that work to get rid of the administrative costs, whether it's in the health authority or whether it's in core government. We're ensuring that we're doing that, but we're not going to impact the front-line services.

We saw that when those guys, the Conservatives, were on this side of the House, and they cut those front-line services that people depended on. We're not going to do it. We're going to protect front-line services, and we're going to make sure that people are looked after.

Was some pretty great protest signs on display by BCGEU members today.
The rally already happened. Do you have any coverage of the actual event?

The footage I've seen on Instagram looks like a massive turn out. From what I could tell, the whole front lawn of the Legislature was full.
I told a few friends about it. They had no idea this existed. I think word will spread about how great this service is and encourage more people to cycle downtown.
This is amazing.

Hearing from my coworkers at the Victoria Bike Valet downtown that they are FULL, as the BCGEU labour protest amasses large numbers to head to the Legislature.

This is, in my recollection, the first time we've actually had to turn people away.

Thousands of striking BCGEU and PEA members and their supporters rally on the legislature lawn demanding a better wage offer. The PEA lead negotiator says the government latest offer “takes us backwards” when considering inflation and cost of living increases.

This isn't a small rally. The entire leg lawn is filled. 100%. #BCGEU #solidarity #generalStrike

Same here, but only 2 bedrooms. The floor plan isn't great though. If I weren't renting, I'd spend the time and effort to sort it out.

A one bedroom 800 sq. ft. apartment sounds luxurious (waste of space).
You also get a whole bunch of stuff just for contributing anything at all.
So even if you don't win one of the many prizes, you still walk away with awesome swag.
I'm pumped about the new NPC icons I got. I haven't had time to look at all the maps yet... There's just so much!

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

Dam been writing a book about this and she just TikToked it in 90 seconds.
When I saw Jon Stewart was doing an episode kissing Trump's butt (ironically) I thought it would be amazing if the Colbert Report came back to do it right.

Well. I sorta got my wish.

we dont need boycotts, these places have too much centralized money due to their monopolies. they can literally exist for 300 years without taking a real financial hit.

we need a GENERAL. FUCKING. STRIKE.

Hey @davidebybc.bsky.social and @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social. The ratio of excluded management positions to union workers has crept up to 1-to-3. If we reduce it down to a more reasonable 1-to-4 ratio we would save $275m/yr. The current BCGEU proposal only ads $91m/yr. 🤯

This might be niche but...

Is Charles Demers on the BC gov bargaining committee because their offer is a joke.

I'm not the best at math. But if you're already paying someone a salary to do something, hiring a contractor to do that exact same work sounds like you're spending more money, not saving it.

I'm very saddened to learn about the passing of Merlyn Williams.

He was one of the best story tellers I ever met. I especially liked the one about the wood thief in Yellowknife woodyard.

He was a real character and will be missed by many. My condolences to his family.

To some Northerners, ravens are an annoyance, but one Yellowknifer has fallen in love with the giant black birds. Or more specifically, one special bird named Raymond.

There are credible news sources like CBC and BBC that are publicly funded that anyone can access.

I think reporters should be paid. But I will also acknowledge that not everyone can afford a subscription.

It's not a black and white scenario.
