DYK Almost all of our new stock is from small, independent & university presses? There are so many publishers beyond the Big 5.
There's maybe never been a more important moment for #BookSky to get REALLY into small & indie presses. If you don't know where to start, tell me what you're into and I'll give you a recommendation
if you really want to stick it to Disney, and other corporate media giants, become fascinated by things they would never produce, so that they might fade into the background noise of life.

Are you doing a neat Ursula-related project? Talking about her work on a podcast, or reviewing the prize shortlist, or anything else? We'd love to hear about it, if so! You can always tag us here, and every email that comes through the contact form is read by an actual person.

A bunch of folks have asked about my "Long Arc of Fascism" course - this is my opening lecture at our public teach-in last Spring.
Watch @naomiaklein.bsky.social open the Long Arc of Fascism teach-in by challenging the conventional, narrow understanding of fascism, particularly the idea that it is a uniquely European phenomenon that began in the 1920s or ’30s and was defeated in 1945.

Something I want to do more in 2026 is to actively encourage more people to organize grassroots public history projects where they live. Instead of wringing our hands re the Fed attacks on Black studies, women's studies, LGBTQ studies etc we can just teach at the community level intergenerationally.

Too many to name, including tons who are so good at crafting sentences, you don't notice how good they are. Fitzgerald leaps to mind first, though. Gatsby is a hot mess, structurally, but the sentences are so gorgeous, it hardly matters.
Amid the ongoing thing about AI and people's increasing reliance on it, a question: do you have a writer, or writers, who you look to as exemplary makers of good sentences? Because this seems to be something which AI either can't do, or doesn't consider "worth doing".

I can't tell you how invigorating and inspiring and hopeful it is to be in a crowd of people who also care. Took a group of teens to the last big protest and they were most struck by no longer feeling alone. If you're able to go, I encourage you to try. Get a group of friends & go together.
I’ve seen a lot of hand wringing about the dangers of going to No Kings protests and gently, I want to tell people to chill a little. These are permitted marches and the point is to be out there and seen en masse. Please don’t scare off people who are maybe going to their very first protest
