Hell everyone! My name is JD and I am a comic book writer, Media/Communication Scholar, and a big ole fan of Comics, music (especially metal) and games (video, table top, tcg and role-playing).

My main gig at a refugee non-profit keeps me super busy, but be on the lookout for cool stuff in 2025!

Yup, you are right. There's a lot of the same DNA, but the constructions are so different that you'd really have to twist one to make it into the other.

This is just some good comics. Also I think this is the closest to "de-compressed" storytelling as I've seen in comics at this point in time. Two issues in and Ikaris doesn't even have a costume yet!

We work with folks who speak amazing English but struggle to write. Others are great with writing and reading but don't feel confident presenting or speaking.

Vague job postings that say that knowing English is required but doesn't specify what skills makes it harder for ESL folks to apply.

Something you can do to make your workplace more friendly to Refugee and immigrant workers: Post required English levels on your job postings.

At my day job we help refugees find jobs and one of the biggest barriers is not being able to know how much English is required for a job.
