This reads like a cable public access channel version of the Book of Proverbs with a gospel twist (complimentary).

"Stop pretending Jesus was crucified because he preached good vibes and personal growth" is what ICE would call a good shoot.
One of the best things I’ve read in a while:

In classic Rahm fashion, this is him snatching being wrong from the jaws of being right. Yeah, big businesses suck and the Republicans don't care about regulating them. He's two-thirds of the way home and then he gets in a bars about MARXISTS.

Thanks, Obama.

One of the bigger relatively under-reported narratives of this epoch is that the billionaire class has not only ballooned but generally adopted an anti-noblesse oblige mindset. We'd be fine with a Randy Smith here or there if someone like Bezos or Soon-Shiong were noble, but lol, no.
If this is true (and that’s not a small if), it is reasonable to posit that Bezos is trying to offload the Post. Or kill it altogether.

Sports is a top driver of traffic and subscriptions for most news sites.

And we’ve seen how Bezos and Lewis have mangled the Opinion section.

They would have so many applications flood in for these positions the email servers would self-immolate. It's like when the FBI is raiding a true scumbag's place and there are like 50 agents on the lawn just to be there. I'll cart bankers' boxes just to see Greg Bovino at the defendant's table.
I will immediately resign from my corporate gig and take the attendant pay cut if a future D POTUS offers me a DOJ spot persecuting members of this Administration
Honestly a federal commission with prosecutorial authority paired with stripping immunity from ICE officers would be a huge wombo combo

It's pretty grim when you watch a police shooting video and you can't tell at first which cop shot the guy because there are like 5 holding down the victim.

They have to gut this entire damn agency and dig to kill the roots.

"Make Heaven Crowded" is somehow the least effective pitch I've ever heard for Christianity.

Entry 22 is art but I personally love Entry 20, where she suggests disrobing Judge Kacksmaryk [sic] and calls a guy a "known abuser, life-long alcoholic, life-long opiate abuser, and cocaine dealer," which is just what legal writing profs mean by drafting detailed headings that propel the argument.
"NOTICE of THIS IS INSANE- AMERICA IS IN A TOTAL JUDICIAL COLLAPSE AND UNMITIGATED CRISIS AND THIS IS JUST PART ONE OF MY EXPLAINER"

is possibly the greatest thing anything has been titled in legal history

Against cruel and unusual punishment generally but as any law student knows there are always exceptions.
!!!!

"Aides to Todd Blanche directed the U.S. Atty’s office and FBI agents based in MN to shut down a civil rights investigation into an officer’s fatal shooting of Renee Good and instead alter it to probe Good for possible criminal liability, according to three people briefed on the discussions."

It's like he and Taibbi looked at each other a decade ago and decided to roll downhill together, like lovers tumbling down a grassy gentle slope.

Setting aside politics, he looks and sounds like shit. What are his poor advisors doing to this man?!

Single-camera, multi-camera, and animated are three completely different forms and it misunderstands television as a medium to lump them together as "sitcoms."

I Love Lucy, Arrested Development, and The Simpsons are all funny but they're at best distant cousins who barely know each other.
What’s your unpopular sitcom opinion?

I’ll go first, I very much preferred Ellen Foley to Markie Post on Night Court.

Taking her claim at face value, she thinks children's television got more politicized as public funding for the arts has been more threatened and dwindled over time. Assuming her baloney premise for the sake of argument, she should think through the policy solution to that problem.
This is quite literally one of the stupidest human beings alive

Republicans: Lol you stupid libs want "safe spaces" on college campuses

Also Republicans: This state of nine million people is my safe space, how dare you win an election there.

One Battle After Another is a bottom half PTA movie that I enjoyed. It's benefiting on the awards circuit from perfect casting in an otherwise down year (decade? era?) for prestige or auteur film.

The first response is obviously hard no, but this is also an example of FAFO because they should be seriously scared of a progressive approaching government as Trump does, and we may actually need someone to play that role in the primaries.
Trump: "Sometimes you need a dictator."

I am very concerned the Europeans may stop tipping at restaurants in the U.S.
I don't think the Americans, and yes, I mean all of you, are prepared for how hated you now are by everyone.

Its not going away folks. Youve lost all rights to speak to us without being told to go fuck yourselves.
Lutnick heckled in Davos. FT: “The gathering on Tuesday night descended into uproar after combative remarks from Lutnick, the people said, with widespread jeering, some guests walking out and appeals for calm from Fink.”

Okay but at least Kamala isn't there laughing at her own bad puns while everyone has forgotten Greenland even exists.
"Without us you'd all be speaking German", Donald Trump tells an audience in Davos, in Switzerland. Where the most common language is German.

This take sucks. It doesn't represent how educated adults typically view other countries' people in relation to foreign policy (the example is Russia?!) and pretends the average Democrat has power over who the President is that we do not. Online apologizing is also '26/'28 campaign influencing.
Important perspective from Greenland.

Wild how a state/municipal executive office and a federal legislative office have different roles, huh.
January 20, 2026 at 7:38 PM
One of the problems with the "history and tradition" approach to rights is that the people who advocate for it only care about one specific line of "history and tradition." And of course in this case, mountain/desert state AGs are simply playing make-believe about "wild west" customs.
Like, yes, federal law trumps state law. Hawaii has to follow the Supreme Court’s rulings about the Second Amendment. But distinctive state values are worthy of respect. You’d think that an amicus brief signed by 25 states wouldn’t mockingly refer to a “so-called ‘spirit of Aloha.’” And yet!
January 20, 2026 at 6:55 PM
What if Indiana football national title is the pig flying back after the Cubs '16 World Series win, like a decade vibes comet, and tomorrow morning it goes back to Obama era norms and we never hear about Greenland ever again.

The idea that we need to have a single online "global townsquare" cannot die fast enough.
If Bluesky is to grow and become a viable alternative for the "Global Townsquare," which was the point, it needs to compete on engagement and virality is a part of that.

It isn't competing. Engagement here has been falling for a year. That's a problem if you, like me, want it to survive and thrive.
January 20, 2026 at 12:42 AM
Not the point here, but if the journalist does nothing but ride in the car and film/comment, that should be 1A protected activity from a normative perspective if not a legal one. Push back on their dumb hypos and I suspect half the time a rhetorical house of cards would crumble.
Harmett Dhillion threatens Don Lemon: "Imagine you have a bank robbery that's being planned by a number of criminals ... and then a podcaster says, 'Let me embed myself in here and come along for the ride and livestream the crime.' That would not be protected by the 1st Amendment."
