Warren: The only movement these Republicans can manage is bowing down to Trump. When you ask them about today, they claim the No Kings Rally is anti-American. They’re wrong. Hundreds of thousands of people protesting peacefully for what they believe in—that is deeply American. That is patriotism.

Senate is back in session today.

1/ So a quick 🧵on where things are at on the shutdown.

You get a lot of propaganda and spin thrown at you, so I want to give you the real, behind-the-scenes tea.

🚨The absence of media coverage of this natural disaster in Alaska, the lost/missing people, and the destruction of the aftermath is up to us to share. Please help if you can - even if it is just spreading awareness. There is no FEMA going to help them. 1/2

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

RFK fired the CDC official (w/decades of experience) leading the measles outbreak response. It's been decades since we've had such a large outbreak. And just to ensure they they can spread the measles outbreak even farther, they also fired the leadership for the center focused on immunization.

Sen. Ossoff’s investigation into U.S. immigration detention found 500+ credible reports of abuse, including assault, poor medical care, and unsanitary conditions.

14 cases involved pregnant women.

Urgent reforms are needed to protect detainees’ rights and dignity.

Dr. Jane Goodall was a remarkable individual – as a scientist, as an advocate for wildlife and wild places, and as a source of profound hope for the future of our planet. She brought such a joyful spirit and unfailing optimism to her work. #inspiration #hope #wildlife #conservation

This is true, and funny because it's true, and also an argument for "early writing" - you can write much of your paper, even most of it, well before the work is complete and thus before you're too late for "should have done".
Science: only when you write up the manuscript, you realize what you should have done.

I'm aware that the President likes to go on television and beg me to call him to ask for troops.

I find it strange, as Chicago doesn't want troops.

I also have experience asking him for assistance – just to have the rug pulled up from underneath me when execution meets reality.

Hi, immunologist here:

(a scientist who studies immune & inflammatory processes)

RFK Jr is talking absolute bullshit when he says he can “see in kids faces that they have inflammation”

That’s NOT how immunology works.

He is an anti-science profiteer.
Start calling him such.

Canadians like to think of themselves as global leaders. But on climate policy – and on EV adoption in particular – we are worse than laggards; we are surrender monkeys running backwards...

Axing the EVs: Canadian sales plunge while global sales surge
We’ve slammed on the brakes of EVs and started driving the wrong way. That's leaving Canadians even further behind.

Start your morning with two minutes of the testimony of Samuel Garcia, an average American who drove 3 hours to speak truth to power to the Texas legislature. Let’s decide that we are all Samuel Garcia. Get in their faces and make them listen. Mr. Garcia is a great American.

I would deeply enjoy supervising a PhD thesis about this advertisement… please get in touch 😅

(Yes, it’s a real advertisement!)
This is uplifting. Even has “the most hopeful statistic I’ve seen in four decades of writing about the climate crisis.” According to McKibbon.
In the past two years, with surprisingly little notice, renewable energy has suddenly become the obvious, mainstream, cost-efficient choice around the world.
4.6 Billion Years On, the Sun Is Having a Moment
In the past two years, without much notice, solar power has begun to truly transform the world’s energy system.
