It’s also got way more in common with the Epstein scandal than you really want to know.

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Duncan, a political newcomer and former prisoner, defeated incumbent Darren Lombard by a wide margin in Saturday's runoff.

In N.C., churchgoers are literally running into the woods as federal agents descend on the property.

“Inside the church, women and children sobbed as they wondered whether their loved ones had been taken.”

You know who would have published a good obit of Alice Wong? Teen Vogue.

But they closed it, just a week before Alice died, screwing her out of her columnist gig a week before her death and making sure TV didn’t cover her death, Dick Cheney’s death or Mamdani’s win.

Thanks, Anna Wintour!!!

The thing about protesting at Broadview is that the law is whatever the cop in front of you decides it is that day. There’s a special zone for free speech, only during certain hours of course. Arrested another protester. For no fucking reason. Not in the magical “you have rights in here only” zone 🤡

Checking in on this: the school board member who opposed the ban on trans athletes, and who was then challenged by the parent of the HS girl who'd complained, won reelection, 60 to 40%.
I'd totally missed this:

In Tumwater, WA, a HS student complained about a trans basketball player. Then, the local school board passed a resolution to ban trans girls from girl sports.

Now, the mother of that student is running against the sole school board member to vote against the resolution.

The tenderness that the Long Beach cop displays towards this ICE agent who spent weeks brutalizing the community as part of his "job," then decided to spend his off-duty time drunkenly waving around a loaded firearm and menacing women--and who violently resisted arrest!

Disgusting
So… A BP agent filmed in LA in June kidnapping someone from a Walmart got arrested by Long Beach cops after drunkenly flashing his service pistol in a women’s restroom. He demanded they call BP Commander Bovino. After making bail he died of a drug OD at his parents house. lbpost.com/news/isaiah-...

Congress’s shutdown deal eliminated key food safety rules, blocking agencies from enforcing measures to prevent contamination and trace outbreaks. This rollback has coincided with a surge in hospitalizations and deaths from foodborne illnesses.
