We should talk more about Stephen Miller’s belief that he is a historian. Anybody can be one. But he’s really, *really* bad at it.

He is sitting atop prosperity, cultural dynamism, and scientific advancement created by more than ten generations of immigration. His very existence proves him wrong.

If people aren’t following a rule, asking to create a new rule that says the same thing doesn’t actually do anything.

Enforcement, and if that doesn’t work, abolishment are the only choices.

"Look what you made me do." absolutely classic abuser behavior. This is built in, how the DEPARTMENT is *designed.* Yes, the entire department. Abolish DHS.
As @hebagowayed.bsky.social and I wrote in our Guardian article on abolishing ICE, this is Homan threatening to gun down Americans for using their free speech rights to accurately describe ICE as fascist secret police.

Just so we are clear. Haitians are currently in the United States legally.

They are not here illegally.

Trump is revoking their legal status Feb. 3, and then, according to reports, immediately sending ICE in to Springfield and Columbus, Ohio, to target them.

Dear Adobe,

No, I don't need the AI to summarize. No, I don't need the AI to help me search. No, I don't need the AI to help me resize the margins. No, I don't need the AI to do anything.

What I need is to hit the print icon without your product crashing from all of the AI popups.

The right is not, in fact, a blind blob of stupid hate acting at random.

The hatred has a funny way of being channeled into very specific policy objectives.

That we totally miss bc we keep buying the bullshit about how this is a "culture war" & we "just have to work on messaging."

Storing food that doesn’t fit in your freezer in a cooler on your back patio during a snow storm sounds like a good idea until the patio screen door freezes in place and you have to walk around the apartment building in knee deep snow to retrieve your food.

Bovino is just the patsy - a noxious and odious fall guy. Stephen Miller is the architect and prime mover of the whole thing. Everything they do is at his direction - often after his threats. As long as he runs policy in the WH, nothing will change no matter how many Bovinos come and go.

Exactly right.

Bovino's leaving? Great, get Noem to resign.

Noem resigns? Great, defund and dismantle ICE.

Go after Stephen Miller too. Bring charges against ICE thugs at the state and local level. Lawsuits. New state laws restricting them.

Every possible angle.
They are wounded and flailing. Press the advantage.

Even if Bovino gets fired, ICE has to go.
Even if Noem is out, ICE has to go.
Even when Trump leaves office, ICE has to go.

As protests grow and ICE's popularity drops, we may see concessions and leadership changes, like Bovino's departure. ICE still has to go.

Very good thread re civil rights movement and one of the rare times King’s approach didn’t work.
There's been a lot of discussion about the echoes of the civil rights movement in the protests today, with people obviously drawing comparisons between the strategies, tactics and coalitions that were vital then and are still vital now.

But this post has me thinking about a different echo ...
I suspect right now Stephen Miller and the other nazis are meeting to discuss how a place not as “nice" or "peaceful” as Minnesota will provide better oxygen for their lies and goals of martial law.

This is as much a result of the abandonment of public schools as the predominance of charters in red states.
I think two generations of professional athletes that have not attended real school, but sports academies, has damaged any sense of consciousness that would lead to a consistent activist mindset.

As JD Vance starts trying to play "nice Gestapo" to Steven Miller's "mean Gestapo," it's worth emphasizing that what's happening in Minnesota is a direct descendant of Vance's knowingly false racist demagoguery during the campaign. "Somalis are low-IQ thieves" is "Haitians are eating your pets."

I adore my seat neighbors at the basketball games (this is my third year sitting next to them). They’re retired and in their 70s.

It’s cold and dry right now, so I got a nosebleed right before the game. Not a big deal, looks more horrifying than it is, and this one was done really fast.

Me: tells cat I will feed him once this quarter of basketball is over

My cat: immediately steps on remote and exits out of the game.

He may be smarter than I give him credit for.

No. The problem has been very specifically one thing: if they move in any kind of detectable force, they pick up a tail within minutes, and then it often grows and grows until you have a dozen cars following two ICE SUVs, making so much noise that the entire neighborhood knows they’re there.
Do you think the general strike announcement spooked their higher ups at all?
