I just like the butterfly. Maybe I'll think of more later.

Alright. Again, late to the party, but James Gunn is a massive nerd, and I think we all need to appreciate what that brings to the table.

(Sort of. Absolutely no sweetener hides office coffee. Every office fends for themselves).
jezzariddell.bsky.social
*still watching Superman* Yeah, absolutely nothing hides the taste of work coffee. Either you are immune because of caffeine, or you dump way too much cream and sugar in. Lois is correct.

Also, somehow Creature Commandoes just reached back in time and stole my college laptop for a soundtrack, so...good for them on that (voice acting is also extremely on point).

I have never been big on a "rivalry" between the two publishers. I like comics from both houses, and have criticisms for both. (Marvel only gets an edge right now because they did boost CrossGen Comics after it closed).

I did take a break this weekend, and I'm going to say that between Creature Commandoes, Peacemaker, and Superman, DC is getting back on its feet.

(I meant "you" in the general social media commenter sense, but re-reading it, I see how it sounded like "you, Lux". Ugh. Last comment of mine on what is probably already a nightmare post).

What a weird day. Tomorrow will be weirder.

(I'm just admin. The contraction of non-profit work means that these jobs will probably get filled fairly soon, because very few non-profits can fund positions. It stresses everyone else out a lot, though).

Temp Employer: Are you okay with staying for another three months?
Me: Hiring slows down in November so yeah.
Employer: I need to replace two people, so that's not great to hear.
Me: It's not great to say, but on the bright side, the people you need to replace are probably more desparate than me.

Apologies if it sounded like I wasn't agreeing with your thoughts.
jezzariddell.bsky.social
No. My point was that people have been using it very loosely lately, and it's getting hard to tell what they mean.

Have we always done this shtick where ceos can just say what they want and people accept it as True and Wise instead of a sales pitch?

"Papa John says pizza most important meal for most families" okay who gives a shit

don't worry, Sam Altman is confident that his efforts to eliminate vast numbers of jobs will all just sort of work out for the unemployed, eventually, possibly after they starve to death, which is technically a form of having it work out

Sam Altman Says If Jobs Gets Wiped Out, Maybe They Weren't Even "Real Work" to Start With
Worried that AI will destroy work? Well, Sam Altman asks if you've considered what a farmer from half a century ago thinks of your job, first.

The phrase "Zionism" was already very much a "step lightly" term, but it has been so poisoned in the last two years, that I almost block on sight for people who use it. I'm going to assume you just learned it in the past two years, but still.

Something that a lot of people either missed or have forgotten is that over the past two years there's been a massive gap between what people *intended* to communicate and how their words were heard, and that contributed to the phenomenon discussed below.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

COVID. The delay was due to the COVID pandemic.

Remember - when Mike's smirkin', he's lyin'. He thinks he's getting away with it, and the thrill of it shows on his smarmy little face.

Mike Johnson: "With regard to Grijalva, our dear friend Julia Letlow won a special election in 2021. Speaker Pelosi took 25 days to administer the oath of office to her. No Democrats jumped up and down and screamed about that ... you do it as soon as you're able to do it."

I've gotta be honest, I do definitely miss the days when I didn't have to think about every state election all the time.

Well, I've been crippled by depression since 2008, so at least that's nothing new.

A reminder, that today, on here, the tone of the website is what it is but out in the real world, Democrats are holding the line on the shutdown, MTG is slagging Republican leadership for the shutdown, and Thune and Johnson are on TV waxing rhapsodic about ANTIFA controlled cities

Nah, I'm fine with old people and fat people. Be less gross.

To this dude, "we got the things that upset you off your screens" is tantamount to *saving the country*, because that's all his world is, these online culture-war disputes. And that's all his people want: to not have things they find disagreeable on their screens.

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

instead they get grandmas, and priests, and inflatable frogs, and ordinary decent people rising up and saying "this is vile, this is unamerican, these are secret police"

they get kristi noem in a staring contest with a guy in a chicken suit
