We really do need to re-normalize the idea of calling out shitty people to their faces and then refusing to engage with their idiocy.

We’re not products for you to milk, Chad! We’re not content cows!! Try acting like a normal fucking person!!!
tonight while recording a guest spot on a podcast i experienced an unacceptable level of disrespect from one of the hosts. so i decided to do what felt right for me and i left. i didn’t need to stick around to show i’m “tough” or “thick skinned.” i reminded myself that no one is owed my time.

In The New Republic, historian Holly Brewer compares the Court's decision to Godden v. Hales, a 1686 case affirming that James II was above the law – which was only repudiated when James II was overthrown in the Glorious Revolution. newrepublic.com/article/1833...

of an entire cabinet full of corrrupt weirdos and boobs, Duffy stands out as just garden variety dumb.

Real "elect me for student body and I'll put a vending machine in the lunch room" ass kind of guy
Duffy on what he's doing to improve the airport experience for travelers: "Maybe I want a workout area where people might get some blood flowing doing some pull ups or step ups in the airport."

On 16th March, 1968 Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jnr was flying helicopter recon for a US attack on My Lai, an alleged Viet Cong-controlled village in Vietnam.

But as the attack developed below, Thompson realised he was witnessing something something else:

A massacre.

He decided to act. 1/28

It's in the Congressional record (linked below, look for pages 12-14 of the pdf).

Senator Edgar Cowen (PA) brought up whether the law would apply (specifically to Chinese immigrants & gypsies).

Senator John Conness specifically answered that concern.

Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

The bottom line is that if a Senator (who has made a special pledge to uphold the law) goes on TV to say a crime he saw wasn't a crime, then when it is judged illegal, the Senator should be prosecuted too.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

Every bowling alley has a guy whose hairline and ponytail make him look like Temu Elrond and he's either the coolest guy or the one with the strongest options on Japanese swords.

Today's was cool.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

we like the thread going around about role models for positive masculinity and it got us thinking about small examples of that, like how the Kraken broadcast crew always say Oscar Fisker-Molgaard's full hyphenated name even though it's not on his jersey bc he told them it makes his mom happy

After two, we are tied at three.

The #SeaKraken offense has come to life this game, creating lots of chances and even scoring on a few of them. A bad defensive breakdown cost them the lead heading into intermission, but you love to see the Kraken shoot the puck more.

All that time and even a lengthy time with the puck at center and they couldn't get Simon a stick until it was back in their zone?
