At the end of the storm, there's a golden sky. LFC always. Historian (see @jjphillips94.bsky.social for more on that one). Sport, gaming, culture and politics #YNWA #JFT97
And Ox scores the late winner for Celtic as well. Lovely stuff.

Endo is so damn likeable. May not have the pace, may get turned easily, but he gives every ounce of effort to make the most of the time he has on the pitch. It's a level of commitment we've missed most of this season. Gutted for him if that injury ends his season.

🇫🇷 Credit to Ibrahima Konate he handled Brian Brobbey brilliantly tonight.

- 100% ground duels won (3/3)
- 5/6 aerial duels won
- 4 clearances
- 2 tackles won
- 2 interceptions

So many key interventions throughout the game.

Played a key role to get a much needed clean sheet.

Sunderland were unbeaten in 12 home Premier League games before tonight.

That's the longest unbeaten home run Liverpool have ended in the Premier League since February 2023 when they beat Newcastle, who were also unbeaten in 12. #LFC

Now if only we were neutral in both comps instead of +8 / -8 we'd be above villa and on the fringe of the title race AND finishing CL top 8.
I've rarely seen variance as extreme across comps in the same season

FT 0-1. The guts we've missed all season.

HT 0-0. Not bad, should be two up at least. Oh to have a functioning left wing who can make the most of having almost all the play.

Also, a minute added on after all their time-wasting already. Kavanaugh playing to type.

This. The straw that broke the back etc.
I think I've had it with this season.

FT 1-2. Throwing that free kick away is criminal. The minute we sat back, what occurred next was inevitable. Even by our standards, there's too much emotional whiplash this season.

Shout for Kerkez's tenacity early on by the way. Both the bight before Haaland's touch and to bully him off the ball to clear. Goal-saving intervention.

HT 0-0. Lot of discussion in the build up about slowing it down versus embracing the chaos. I think you can feel that tension between the two in that first half performance. If we fully commit to the latter, we give City far more of a fight than we have done. It's taking the risk to get the reward.

Love Beasley. Recommend following him for anybody into LFC or data in general.

I will say from a recruitment POV, we will look at whether a CB has played in whatever system the coach plans to use then make a point of assessing him in that specific situation. But we also wouldn't overlook a CB who
‘The new signing is a monster in the air. Good on the ball and progressive with it. Time on his side to improve. Tick, tick, tick, tick.’

This is excellent.

I think clocks on setpieces would make a difference (because it would be more physically demanding to send the centre backs up if you had 8 seconds to take a throw-in) but so would actually applying the existing rules and not resetting the "grammar" of throws 40 yards from goal.
I'm watching Arsenal-Chelsea and for some reason I thought people might be interested in a newsletter about how the set piece revolution in the Premier League has led to fewer open play goals and tons of six-yard-box shoving www.expectinggoals.com/p/the-set-pi...

So we just need to survive 4 months before we get our fancy new CB. Thought the short-term fix wasn't on the cards. It's not very us and it's never worked out for us in the past.

Nevertheless, jouer avec le feu.

Liverpool have secured a deal for Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet, though the 20-year-old will not move to the Premier League until the summer.

But what will the Reds eventually be getting? @davidsegar.bsky.social looks at his data. 👇
