All of this chaos and performative cruelty for some lousy tax cuts?

On November 5, 2024 the United States of America overdosed on a mixture of bigotry, willful ignorance, hypocrisy and performative cruelty in an apparent murder/suicide attempt. Looks like we’ll know relatively soon whether it was fatal.
Cowards either way.
I used to think Republicans fell in line because they feared Trump would attack them in a primary election. Now, I realize it's much worse. They are physically afraid of Trump's supporters and the risk of violence.

Watching @alivitali.bsky.social and I’m begging folks to stop yielding to the idea that there are potential war crimes when there is no war— Congress hasn’t authorized military action. The DoD is simply ordering the execution of civilians in peace time. Crime against humanity is more apt.

Pretty funny to see elected Republicans milk the “Aftyn hates Nashville” thing when Nashville has had 3 Republican congressmen and 2 Republican U.S. senators and between them they have held 0 town halls - as the GOP supermajority attacks & undermines Nashville constantly.

"I'm going to tax the everloving shit out of the rich people who made your life miserable and put every masked thug who broke the law or traitor who wrecked the government for their own profit in prison" I admit is too long for a sign, but at the very least this should be the spirit of the thing.
No value, no villain, no vision. Sounds like the tagline for the earnings call of a collapsing appliance retailer

Jeeves (a valet) routinely prevented Bertie Wooster from wasting money, marrying badly, getting arrested, and making bad fashion choices. It could work.
rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

Can his arc knock down Gillibrand?
I’m ready for the Al Franken redemption arc
Years ago, my colleagues at Business Insider and I tracked YouTuber “cancellation” arcs. What we found is that for many entertainers, “cancellation” actually sets the stage for a redemption arc, one that can raise their profile higher than ever. It wasn’t career-ending. It was fuel.

When a news outlet puts a reckless, undocumented claim by the Trump regime in the main headline and puts medical experts’ pushback in the smaller type, it’s making a choice. And not a good one.

And for what, more appearances on fox? Ivermectin sales?
Unvaccinated infants are the second most likely group to get hospitalized for Covid after older adults. Any effort to minimize the effectiveness for kids is evil.

He’s a perma-grifter.
This post from 6 months ago is what I mean about me not being able to trust anything Prasad says about COVID19 vaccines.

He is only in his role at FDA because he is willing to deceive the public.
I was cleaning up my pics and found this. It’s NIH Director Bhattacharya and the FDA CBER Director Prasad casually misleading the public about COVID19 boosters.

They claim the country is “divided” over these vaccines. That’s because they push misinformation. And they are richly rewarded for it.

Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.
