“The younger generation is the most ecologically informed ever."

They are also “the most emotionally involved in [nature loss], have contributed the least to [its] causing, and are going to suffer most as a result.”

The power of rewilding to transform our own lives, as well as nature.

This blog post is a very accurate characterisation of the experience of living with #PostExertionalMalaise #PEM.

Recommended reading for healthcare professionals who want to understand #MECFS and #LongCovid.

You generally only see these patients when they're at their best — not in the aftermath.
Here’s a quote from my piece, Why I Can’t Just Meet You for Dinner, about post-exertional malaise. This is after work while I’m in the middle of a PEM crash. #PEM #MECFS #LongCovid #ChronicIllness #Disabled

For the first time in my career, I can’t tell people to trust what the CDC website says. And that is an incredibly sad and devastating place for this country to be.
CDC has overhauled its website to assert that “the claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim”

Good news: Study shows France’s birds making tentative recovery after neonicotinoid pesticide ban

UK has only just closed loophole in neonics ban (‘derogations’) so may be too soon to see recovery here?

Fantastic talk summarising where we’re at with “AI” and great discussions of the worrying challenges it presents us all.

Plus kudos for mention of Web Rings! Takes me back! But on a serious note, I hope for an authenticity infrastructure so AI can “touch grass”!
A month or so back I gave a public talk at the @salish-current.org's Voices of the Northwest knowledge festival, about our new course on how to live, learn, and thrive and a ChatGPT world. The evening was delightful; we had a great conversation with a marvelous audience.

Now you can watch it here.

What usually gets lost in the focus on what an evil racist James Watson was is just how colossal of a dumbass he was and just how far he set the field back.

But @sramach.bsky.social and @cbo.bsky.social kept their eye on the ball.

For anyone interested in Nature in the UK, this is really, really depressing reading. Despite all our efforts over the past decades (site protection, farming schemes), wild plants, an essential element of the natural world, are disappearing before our eyes. britishandirishbotany.org/index.php/bi...

I’ve always hoped for an app like this! Lichens are great indicators of air quality:
Many lichen species are sensitive to nitrogen pollution, making them natural indicators of air quality.

📱LicheN is a new app enabling people to help monitor air quality using lichens. Data gathered will improve understanding of N pollution and its impacts on ecosystems.
