I run Context Studio in Dublin and we’ve just taken the company off X / Twitter for obvious reasons.

Bilbao is smaller than Dublin
The Basque Government/Biscay provincial government have just agreed to finance the FIFTH new Bilbao metro line covering a population of roughly that of Leeds and Bradford. Every station and platform is fully accessible and the current maximum fare is 0.76€ per journey.
Remember when HS2 to Leeds was cancelled by the NIC's shitty maths and fundamental lack of expertise, and Leeds was thrown the bone of "you'll get trams" and I said those would never be delivered?

Yeah, as I was saying...

Can anyone recommend a particularly good study or meta study showing how online meetings facilitate greater participation for groups such as caregivers, disabled people, and people without access to personal transport? 🧪
I need academic references in my particular context. Thank you.

So, for Christmas the Irish government have gifted us;

- additional state surveillance in the form of facial recognition legislation and announced internet surveillance regulation.

- gutted the Occupied Territories Bill.

But, they have ensured our drinking water remains polluted with nitrates.
The Govt have announced they plan to pass the Facial Recognition Technology Bill through the Dáil on the last sitting day before Christmas. They’ve also removed most of the safeguards the legislation had at earlier stages and widened the scope of use.

In the Netherlands, where the Dutch invest in safe cycling, the over-65s cycle around a quarter of their journeys, while the over-80s cycle around 10% of theirs.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and cycle lanes don't 'restrict freedom', they expand it.

Absolutely LOVE catching these tech failz in the wild - I get great joy out of spotting a windows blue screen in a garage forecourt or a “Press CTRL-Alt-Del” behind an airport makeup stand. Partly because I know how much this shit costs 🤣

Sad I missed this one.

Best critique of AI I’ve read yet 😂
That's because we want it to do our housework, not write our novels, ya planks
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy

There must be half a million people who will be disadvantaged by this decision. We need organised protests.

This victim-blaming shit again. Rage inducing that this ineffective messaging is being funded with our public money instead of actual enforcement of the law.
👀 Can you see me now?

The importance of visibility on our roads cannot be understated, particularly for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooter drivers and motorcyclists.

This is the kind of benefit the Grand Canal Greenway could bring to Castleknock, if the residents would allow it be built.
"My son cycles from Louisa Bridge to Maynooth University (in his first year) and back each day and honestly I don’t know how we would have managed it without this upgrade. Many congratulations to all concerned" -- a comment from a reader made under this article: irishcycle.com/2025/11/21/b...

So, @kilkenomics.bsky.social was a thing… wish I could spend more time, but it was a good talking the economics of design with Seán Keyes and Ciarán O’Gaora. Huge opportunity for Ireland, if we can get past the “stuff for the yanks to buy” mentality.

Some of the comments from Irish government leadership about immigration lately could make one wonder if violent and destructive “protest” is the most viable means to get policy change.

I don’t see them responding to peaceful efforts on other issues.
