I disagree with this title.

We have seen that Trump is actually in no rush.

He wants peace on Russia’s terms, no matter how long it takes

😢 Why are we forced to pick between cheap & polluting and expensive & sustainable?

✈️ Airplanes: subsidies & MASSIVE tax breaks.
🚄 Trains: tax on energy, VAT on international travel & high track access costs.

💚 Low emissions & low cost should be the priority.

Sigh. It should not be surprising at all, but the realities of the Trump era takes time to take in. I hope othersin Europe are more agile than me.

Quite interesting. While clearly Exxon, in this case, tries greenwash their specific operation, chemical recycling will be necessary for circular economy in the future. Polymers are VERY diverse and some very stable. Its unlikely that sorting of plastic waste can fulfil circular economy goals.
Exxon takes on EU and US lawmakers over a plastics recycling technology it warns will be stalled without regulatory changes. Critics call chemical recycling a "greenwashing" tool of little benefit on.ft.com/44qvcPR @financialtimes.com

"Too many European governments still behave as if losing Ukraine would be unfortunate but manageable. This is fantasy. The destruction of Ukraine would reshape Europe’s security architecture for decades, and not in Europe’s favour."

Electrification + efficiency — not rolling back climate policy — is the real path to a competitive European industry.

High fossil fuel prices hit industry hardest, not the Green Deal. Undermining clean-energy commitments would only push investment elsewhere.

Why electrification, not repealing green laws, will save Europe's industry
According to Oxford professor of energy Jan Rosenow, rapid electrification of Europe's industry, not rolling back the EU's Green Deal, will save European industry.

Not just soften. The EU would surrender the moral high ground to a rights-based regulatory environment in the interests of protecting users in the digital ecosystem.
The US pushes for softer digital rules enforcement in exchange for tariff relief to the Europeans after Brussels meeting with Greer and Lutnick.

Not surprising that heat pumps is a key technology also in industrial processes compared to hydrogen. That is, for applications requiring low and medium temperatures. The picture might be different for high temperature applications @janrosenow.bsky.social

Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

So many symbols of Europe (collectively, including the UK) putting defensive politics ahead of responding to the modern world. Which is more than anything else the reason for widespread disillusion and sluggish growth.

Ukraine is the battlefield, but the war that Putin is waging is a larger war against the European order of peace, freedom and the rule of law. His hybrid attacks have been directed at Germany, Poland and others for years now and are becoming ever more brazen.

Some interesting perspectives in this thread. @aslak.bsky.social argues in relation to UK that a/the Customs Union is a bigger stretch on UK sovereignty than membership of the single market.
Maybe true on foreign politics, but not so much on stuff that affect everyday life.
There's a prevailing idea in the UK that a customs union with the EU would be a compromise solution if single market membership is not possible, e.g @eddavey.libdems.org.uk and @jonathanfreedland.bsky.social recently. But a customs union is, from a trade policy, a more radical step. (1/N)
