For more than 60 years, newborns in the US have routinely received vitamin K injections to prevent potentially life-threatening bleeding. These aren't vaccines, but they are getting swept up in anti-vaccine sentiment, doctors told me, and more parents are rejecting them.

This is physically unsustainable for all life on earth.

The plans for data centers - if they succeed - guarantee that we burn the world down and blow every climate tipping point.

The fierce debate here is not just about "speed" but about who gets to decide and how we plan the entire economy.
i was actually shocked to see the numbers on new research from Global Energy Monitor on new gas projects in the US: nearly 100 gigawatts of power—enough to power tens of millions of homes—are currently in development explicitly to power data centers. At the end of 2023 that number was 4 gigawatts
Data Centers Are Driving a US Gas Boom
Gas projects in the US pipeline explicitly linked to data centers increased by almost 25 times over the past two years, according to new research from Global Energy Monitor.

Yesterday's Tesla earnings call would have bankrupted and ended any normally managed company. Between the terrible financial results and the CEO's crazy monologue on 'amazing abundance,' pushing a world of humanoid robots for everyone.

Tesla is dead as a car company. But we live a stupid world:

What they really mean is "don't compare the risks facing different places — because our brittle investments will lose value if you do."

Why do some people want you to ignore climate threats?
Those who stand to benefit when climate risk is denied want you to believe no place is any safer than the worst places. Don't buy it.

So important. What they say is not the story. That is never the story. What happened is the story. Write what happened.
