1/ The new US National Security Strategy blames 'undemocratic' European governments for failing to make peace with Russia, takes a pro-Russian position on NATO, reflects white nationalist views on European demographics, and pledges overt support for far-right parties. ⬇️

“Censorship” is a thought-terminating cliché. These people want you to believe that:

- labeling is censorship
- fact-checking is censorship
- transparency is censorship
- research is censorship

What they’re doing is redefining anything that might inconvenience a hard-right populist as censorship.
american reporters, you've got to call bullshit on this. vance, purveyor of hate/propaganda, wants the public to believe rules on, for instance, transparency in advertising and forms of deception on X are censorship.

don't fall for it.

They ignore data. They lie about history. They are statistically illiterate. They ignore precedent & the law & the plain meaning of words in the Constitution whenever convenient. And then they have the Supreme chutzpah to complain that we are idiots who don’t show them enough deference & respect 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
The blatant use of false, inaccurate histories to arrive at a decision the majority of the Court clearly wanted regardless of the facts is a feature of both Dred Scott and Dobbs. It’s an apt comparison. 🗃️
If you see John Roberts in person, be sure to tell him he’s a worse Chief Justice than Roger Taney (pronounced “tawny”). That’s a nerd burn that will hit him where it counts.

One can draw a line from Roger Ailes determining in the mid-70s that Watergate would never happen again, to Rush Limbaugh being the muse for the 1994 Gingrich revolution, to Laura Loomer and Jack Posobiec being tremendously influential figures in Trump world.

I guess what I'm saying is, for all the theatrical cruelty & dumbassery you see on your screens every day, there is 10X that amount of damage being done behind the scenes. Simply getting these fucks out of office won't fix all this -- repair will take many decades.

Trump is selling out America and our allies.
Q:Would it be correct to say that at yesterday’s meeting,Putin rejected the American plan?
Peskov:No,that wouldn’t be correct.Russia understands that the quieter negotiations are conducted, the more productive they will be.We’ll stick to this principle&hope that American vis-à-vis will also follow it

The GOP used to at least pretend not to be so blatantly racist, and would get angry if you accused them of being racist. Now people like Rich Lowry just don't give a shit any more and will proudly tell you how racist they are.

Today in life under competitive authoritarianism
I don't think we can ignore the fact that Indiana GOP lawmakers spent months insisting they weren't going to do this and relented less than 24 hours after one of them publicly revealed she was threatened with a pipe bomb.
Indiana Republicans have unveiled their proposal to re-gerrymander the congressional map & expand their current 7-2 majority to 9-0.

The Dem-held 1st would flip to Trump+12 & the 7th to Trump+19. All 7 GOP seats would be at least Trump+18.
