I will pay for apps (that are currently free and are forcing AI into them with new updates) if they will give me an AI free version. Takes up less space on my phone. Uses less data. Works faster. Doesn't give me shit answers.

The insanity of white American people (the descendants of immigrants and/or colonial genociders) telling indigenous people they don't belong there will never not blow my mind.

If you live in the US and you don't have a tribal ID you're a fucking immigrant.

Honestly, it is possible to think 'I work hard to earn money; I deserve that money' and *also* 'it would be good if we created a more equal society: I'll help'. Exhausting to see everything presented as a fight to the death between those two ideas, seemingly forever.

A close female friend was chatting to 3 of her female friends in my presence. They agreed "You can't be mates with a bloke because they don't really want to be your friend, they just want to fuck you". I said "But I'm genuinely just your friend" and she earnestly replied "No - we mean normal men".

I met Bobby Blitz from Overkill and told him I'd been a fan since Under The Influence (1988). He laughed out loud, slapped me on the shoulder and went "Maaaan, what were you? A fuckin' foetus?!"

Your yearly reminder that if someone using slightly different terminology from you regarding anything to do with Yuletide somehow "spoils" your Christmas, your Christmas was already shit if it's that easily dented. You sound like a miserable prick and I hope your stocking is filled with coal.
Social media posts have claimed that Tesco is not celebrating Christmas, because it has described one of its trees as an “evergreen” tree.

This is misleading—the retailer sells other artificial trees labelled as Christmas trees.
Tesco hasn’t rebranded all its Christmas trees to ‘evergreen trees’ – Full Fact
Claims that Tesco is not celebrating Christmas because it is selling an “evergreen” tree are missing context.

If inflation comes up at the dinner table, don’t forget to draw attention to a deeper structural driver of high prices: corporate power.

Much of the food industry is dominated by a few corporate giants with the power to keep prices high because they face little competition.

Remember the scene from The Day Today where Steve Coogan plays a Unionist who has to inhale helium before he makes any statement in order to subtract credibility from it?

This is even sillier. Except it's real.

It's the terrorism equivalent of "you touched the smelly kid now you've got nits"
Like we’re all clear this is as dangerous as it is farcical right

@impq.bsky.social As someone who has worked in Birmingham for many years but has very much chosen not to live in Birmingham I found myself listening to the mini-episode thinking "Yeah, Brum's not that bad. Don't be mean about Brum". However I too struggle to list many good things about it 😁

Do you like silliness?

I like both, but even if you're "not that fussed" about Iron Maiden, I (and @andymch.bsky.social) can assure you this is definitely worth a listen. Go on. Treat yourself. You're worth it!

We all need a little time
To put the reason to the rhyme
Everbody has their day
But sooner or later we're all gonna stray
Gone astray
Just like a loaded gun, finger on the trigger
And having fun 😬😬😬😬

How the hell is "I want to be tried by a jury of my peers - as is my right" gaming the system.

Anyone who describes a defendant who has PLEADED NOT GUILTY and HAS NOT YET HAD THEIR TRIAL as a "criminal" is staggeringly stupid and has no business reporting on our justice system.
It comes after our @jessicaelgot.bsky.social revealed that criminals will be stopped from “gaming the system” by choosing trial by jury to increase chances of proceedings collapsing - and that govt was planning radical changes to limit jury trials by next election.

This is such offensive bullshit. The vast majority of people sent to Crown Court have no choice in it. The percentage of people who elect Crown Court trial is MINISCULE and it is nothing to do with gaming system but seeking a fairer trial due to the absolute shambles that is the Magistrates Court.

Farage is correct. One bad apple is a phrase used to point out that one rotten element in a group actually perverts the entire group.

'One bad apple turns the whole barrel rotten'
NEW There's no overstating how significant the Nathan Gill case is. On Friday, the close associate of Nigel Farage was jailed for over 10 years for taking bribes ultimately from a friend of Putin. It's a complex, detail-heavy story that raises questions about Farage’s claim Gill was ‘one bad apple’🧵
