Bohemian Waxwings for day 23 #ArtAdventCalendar
2 Bohemian Waxwings in a Mountain Ash tree. One is perched on a branch and the second is in flight in the background. The birds are light brown with black under the chin and around the eyes. There are copper patches on the cheeks, foreheads and under the tails. The tips of the tail feathers are yellow.

This piece was in our main library in 2015 for a couple of months & a woman told me she would stop by on her lunch break & just sit & look at it almost daily because it gave her some peace. Few better compliments.

If you’ve never been put it on your list to do next year, it’s so beautiful there .

This holiday plant was bred from a shrub that grows wild in Mexico to emphasize its star-shaped flowers. It naturally blooms as nights grow longer towards the solstice.

Difficult to describe in detail, but this is a macro photo of ice crystals on the outside of a Minneapolis window, taken from the inside. Each unique feathery crystal is picked out in tiny, ice-white, blade-like extensions to central branches - like glass ferns in a winter landscape. Adorning an upper floor window, through the window glass into the background of the street there are blurry dark tree trunks in a snow-scape - equally out of focus.

Ammonite scarf. My first hand-painted textile project. I still think that silk is a beautiful medium! 🧶

Medium: Pebeo Setasilk paint and silver gutta on 8mm Habotai scarf. Dimensions are 14 x 72 inches.
