Oh noes! An executive order! Whatever shall the states do?
cnn.com CNN @cnn.com · 19h
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that blocks states from enforcing their own regulations around artificial intelligence and instead aims to create a "single national framework" for AI. https://cnn.it/49chVwf

Anticipation, such as it is, is always industry driven. Articles like this don't mention consumers because none of this is consumer driven. Ive's devices designed for Apple sold because they looked nice, but, more importantly, people wanted what was in those devices.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and legendary Apple designer Jony Ive are building one of the most anticipated AI products: a new consumer hardware device, a collaboration Altman's company already paid $6.5 billion for. Read our Artificial Intelligencer newsletter ⬇️ reut.rs/3XPLfTP

It seems like you don't understand your mission if your goal is to prepare students for work. Preparing students for success isn't done through narrowing the field of study, unpredictable job markets aren't solved by limiting options.

Preparing students for "work" means they don't matter to you.
Opinion | Stop Blaming AI. Start Preparing Students for Work

AI isn’t taking jobs, but it is changing them. Colleges should listen to calls for more work-based learning to set students up for success in an unpredictable job market. https://bit.ly/4iTQc7J

When this crossed my timeline it said Claude Monet "reposted by Paul Cézanne."
Monet’s Poplars series almost didn’t happen because the trees were about to be cut down.
So he purchased them until he finished painting, then sold them back.

The thing that gets me about this is that even if we wanted to make a positive AI ad, they never showcase AI being used to enhance someone’s day or improve their workflow. There’s no “it allows me to more easily do what I love.” It’s always presented as a failsafe for the dispassionate and incurious
Every ad for AI is like

Person: FUCK!! I don’t know what to get my loved one for Christmas!!!!!! I love them so much!!! Tell me what to do, AI!!

AI: get sock

Title Card: You are literally the smartest person for doing this

Wire's Pink Flag, Chairs Missing, and 154 are 3 of my favorite albums of all time. Their stuff post-154 is great, I like Newman's solo work a lot, Dome is great; peaks and valleys sure, but almost 50 years of vital music seems impossible.

Its not.

I've purchased a couple of pieces in the past and love them.
I'm all done with IRL #sciart events for the year, so I listed a few more itty-bitty paintings in my ko-fi shop ko-fi.com/1626SLXL3044...

SCOOP — Gregg Phillips, a conspiracy theorist with no emergency management experience who helped produce the election-denying documentary ‘2000 Mules’ with Dinesh D’Souza and has faced numerous legal inquiries, has been named head of FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery.

My story:
Conspiracy theorist election denier given FEMA’s second-most important role
Gregg Phillips will lead the Office of Response and Recovery, “the heart of what FEMA does.”

Able to use Bluesky well enough to mute a thread, but not well enough to be able to understand and engage with the concept of "Some people can reply."

I'm honestly trying to understand the criticism but it seems to rest on the idea that, until now, I have been in an intellectual alliance with Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, and am only just realising that he might have some opinions I disagree with

My Senator told me FedSoc judges keep ignoring his unambiguous laws so I asked how many laws he has and he said he just goes to the Congress and gets a new law afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding unambiguous laws to FedSoc judges and then his chief of staff started crying.
