Looking at this photo of the US-Ukraine Geneva meeting, I wondered who was in the delegation. ABC has the list:

No Russia or Ukraine experts (although US Ambassador to Ukraine Davis & SACEUR Grynkewich were there).

Who is the guy with the notebook? Andy Baker. 1/2

Trump's "peace' plan for Ukraine is not only morally unacceptable but myopic and no basis for a lasting peace. goodauthority.org/news/ukraini...
Ukrainians don’t think much of Putin’s ‘peace’ plan.
Our surveys from earlier this summer show overwhelming opposition to a Russian land grab.

A few experts going right now: "hear me out, Budapest Memorandum, keeping Ukraine out of NATO, telling it to accept loss of Crimea, and pretending the Minsk Accords meant to save Ukraine's sovereignty were all mistakes, but if we now combine all this idiocy into a 28-point plan, it might work!"

Yes. But also, Orbán was in power for 14 years until finally a successful challenger emerged and Orbán's popularity drastically declined. So the interesting question to ask is: Why now? And why was Magyar so much more successful in his anti-corruption messaging than others before him?
Hungary’s Orban seemed undefeatable a year ago.

Then Peter Magyar broke through with a powerful anti-corruption platform, rapidly consolidated the fractured opposition, and now leads Fidesz comfortably.

Anti-corruption defeats authoritarianism worldwide. It will work here, too.

My response to the NYT’s “moderate to win” argument: The data shows the strategy is tapped out. Being seen as moderate by voters doesn’t boost votes, replacing every progressive with moderates would net 0 seats, and the graveyard of defeated D incumbents if full of moderates, not progressives.
The New York Times Argues “Moving to the Center Is the Way to Win.” But the Data Shows the Strategy Is Tapped Out.
Democrats already run moderates in nearly every swing district. It's not enough. A data-driven response to the case for centrism as a core electoral strategy.
