All the way to Pannir’s execution, Singapore chose callous and inhumane bureaucracy. @kirstenhan.com writes of a remarkable young man with so much potential and love, and a family who loved him fiercely in return. Wishing them all the strength in the world now www.wethecitizens.net/goodbye-pann...
Goodbye, Pannir
Singapore wanted the world to see Pannir as nothing more than a drug trafficker. But Pannir showed us all that he was so, so much more.

Oh. My. God. Profoundly twisted framing from @nytimes.com The casual reader of this hed and subhed would have exactly zero inkling that this is likely corrupt or even illegal or unconstitutional. Euphemistic to the point of absurdity.

Helps to think of the @nytimes.com as owned by something like the Tessier-Ashpools of William Gibson's NEUROMANCER.

I got to play a fantastic one-shot of this as the duel-obsessed golden retriever boyfriend of a definitely not evil socialite. We won several dance battles. That is to say - PLAY ITTTT

slightly polished up a quick doodle I drew in the friends at the table fan discord based off of people's riffing: Kalvin and Thobbesbe

a low-resolution illustration of Brnine(a red-haired fish person who's the commander of a rebel cell) and thisbe(A giant robot deer woman who's worked with brnine for years) from friends at the table, in the style of calvin and hobbes. they're balancing along a plank, and the purple, teal, and pink sky of the twilight mirage is in the background.

Just finished @friends-table.bsky.social season 1 of Media Club Plus and the whole 2011 Hunter x Hunter run they covered. What a wild show and delightful commentary on it! I never would have experienced the wonders of gorilla dodgeball, world-historical shogi analogues, or murder clowns without them

I would say that a bunch of tariffs that haven’t taken effect and that the president doesn’t seem to actually have the courage to impose actually matter not at all and human life is very important. This does seem to put me completely at odds with the Democratic Party.

One House Dem called deportations a “soup du jour,” telling @axios.com Trump is “setting a trap for the Democrats, and like usual we're falling for it."

“Rather than talking about the tariff policy ... we're going to go take the bait for one hairdresser.” www.axios.com/2025/04/16/d...

i am sorry but you are just going to have to either learn not to despair or learn to get things done while despairing, this is still the one place in the universe where we are sure there is life and it needs you more than you need to read another headline that drains 110% of your energy

old Soviet joke for our times:

Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to.

Guy says: “looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.”

Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”
