a fascinating writeup on the making of a set of widely distributed IDF propaganda videos, specifically identifying assets they used. there's something incredibly unsettling about the creative ethos here. stolen assets. no actual intelligence information at all. just hubris and pure fabrication.
jacksapoch.bsky.social
Others assets came from scans made by the Scottish Maritime Museum of their boat-building workshop which was downloaded (via @sketchfab.bsky.social) and reimagined by the IDF adornments for underground missile factories.

When you realize how long it takes for a single tree to become fully mature and how many trees it takes to be productive... This is just one more method of *generational* violence.

Hundreds of olive trees were seen uprooted by Israeli forces in the villages of al-Mughayyir and abu Falah near Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.

It'll never be lost on me that a particular subset of the liberal commentariat in both North America and Western Europe were deeply infatuated with this woman up until the very moment she decided to talk about that one issue you're still basically not allowed to talk about lol.

Hostile Platforms / Beloved Margins, a solo exhibition by @everest.bsky.social Pipkin, is now in its last week, on view until 2 October, Wednesday and Thursday, 3–7 PM.

panke.gallery/exhibition/h...

Welcome!
A gallery installation view with a flat screen mounted on a white wall, showing a minimal digital artwork of a small, blue-toned object resembling an animal or abstract shape centered on a white background with text above it. Below the screen stands a simple, tall wooden pedestal on a gray concrete floor. Overhead fluorescent lights illuminate the space. A person in a gallery stands in front of two wall-mounted screens. The left screen displays a paused YouTube interface with black background and white text, while the right screen shows a map with blue water and white land. The person wears a black beanie, a gray sleeveless vest over a black shirt, and black cargo pants, carrying a black backpack. They hold an exhibition booklet titled and look down at it while standing close to the screens.

So obviously one of the most vital events in videogames right now, I really hope I can make the time to attend this year.

Built in the 13th century. So that mosque stood for 800 years with every sort of person from every place and every religion in the world passing through Gaza century after century, only for it to be blown up by some shithead loser sitting behind a computer that we probably paid for.

This Wednesday at panke.gallery: Hostile Platforms / Beloved Margins – solo show by Everest Pipkin; opening: 10 Sep 2025, 7 PM
panke.gallery/exhibition/h...

This is a retrospective of browser-based works from the last decade, from the lens of (or lack of) stability practices on corporate platforms.
A screenshot of a minimalist text-based game interface with a white background and black text. The screen is divided into boxes showing different information: inventory, actions, experiments, past actions, and options like "save game," "journal," "radio," "calendar," and "clock." In the center, a pop-up reads "PUT AWAY CALENDAR" above tally marks representing days. The interface lists items like goose, honey, fish, salt, spiderweb, and others. On the right, actions such as "cry," "piss," "dream," and "listen to radio" appear in blue. At the bottom, the "past actions" log includes events like "drug made crystal," "mud and spiderweb made leather," and "you made dust." A 3D-rendered digital environment of a large circular dome with tall arched windows and beams of sunlight streaming in. The dome's interior is mostly empty, with patches of snow on the ground and a few scattered objects. To the right, there is a dark eagle statue with wings spread. On the left, a rocky formation is visible with mist or steam rising. Several bird-like figures perch on ledges near the windows, and light shines dramatically through the openings in the dome walls. The overall atmosphere feels surreal and dreamlike.

Honestly some of the best students I’ve ever encountered. As Everest says: sophisticated, kind, community-focused, and innately curious (which in my experience has become more of a rarity these days).

So excited for the Fall.

I'm at PlayNYC for the rest of the day with students from Pratt Game Arts!

They're showing their work from the last year, demoing projects... we had Hatsune Miku get a high score... so you have 3 more hours of showroom floor to come through and try to beat Hatsune Miku. Booth 1B-123!
3 students sit behind a booth table in front of a high score table! two students demoing many games hatsune miku is playing a card game (not the miku that got the high score) our booth number is 1B-123!

Our students are making (variously) clever, strange, beautiful and funny work and it's honestly a delight to get to show it off. A lot of their projects are collected on the Pratt Game Arts itch too pratt-game-arts.itch.io
8 covers of student projects! a screenshot of clay characters from "Disorientation" a screenshot of bat bones from "Fossilogical" a screenshot from "the very pulse of your hyphae", a rhythm game

the (technically unsaid, i guess) subtext of this "ask" is that the same government is actively funding new data center construction, specifically towards AI development, which is MAGNITUDES more water-wasteful than email storage could ever dream of being

and in favor of a sterile, aggregate knowledge soup that can be metered out, and charged for. slop with no specificity, no direct line to either individual memories or collective labors in remembering, just facts, images, words, and weighted data in "you know, the general kind of shape this takes"

an actual gift of the internet age is how relatively easy it has become for non-wealthy people to maintain memory systems. both personal ones (photos, backups, searchable mail) and collective ones (wikis, archives, fan communities)

the glee with which that is being destroyed right now floors me

There is no longer any doubt that Israel has set up a fake humanitarian organisation so it can kettle Gazans into a kill box and murder them en masse

It is evil beyond description and in a decent world it would result in immediate, massive, global action to stop them and prosecute those responsible
