I've been thinking about this episode a lot.. is Kapi capable of making a good decision?

Can the group as a whole?

Like there are giant geopolitical changes happening all around them, but instead, they talk about the duck.

I hear you there. I have the privilege to play in person, so I usually have the players assist in drawing the battlemap on blank paper, then augment with 3d printed scatter terrain.

Since Daggerhearts ranges are loosely defined, I don't worry too much about scale.

This sounds flippant, but have your players do it!

Set up a framework and pass it around. Daggerheart thrives the more you have the players add color to the world.

Speaking of the timer, it was a green and red flip board that started off with days until Christmas until the final fight needed the countdown.

The kids insisted I set it back to countdown to Christmas before they left

1 player wanted to assist the arcanist rather than fight. I told them that was a clever idea and I would have run with it in my home game, but I encouraged them to engage in the combat.

In hindsight, I wish I had run with it... a high difficulty spellcast roll to impact the countdown timer

No players went too far off the rails.

Everyone was wary of the candy in the shoes.

*2 of the players from the group of 4 were my roommates who joined in because the other 2 were very nervous.

My favorite session was with the kids. They were having a great time, had great questions, and rolled like gangbusters.

That is the Sablewood Messengers. I was trying to teach the game to new players, and I absolutely love how that adventure layers the mechanics in.

I ran for 3 groups, the first had 2 players, the second had 4*, and the last had 3--two of which were preteen children.

Oh yeah! I'd pay $40 for an extra copy of every card (and nothing else) in a heartbeat although I'm the first to admit I have no idea what production and distribution costs look like these days.

Since every core class overlaps with the neighboring class on each of the domains, the full set of class packs is 2 full copies of all the cards.

That gets it a little closer to the cost of the core set, but I think the real market is for players who just get their classes cards.

My home game has stalled due to various scheduling conflicts, but this weekend, I'm running the Sablewood Messengers for 3 tables at Playthrough Games Con in Raleigh, NC.

I'm really looking forward to teaching more folks about Daggerheart!

In an attempt to let go and embrace less defined measurement, I have resisted creating or implementing a strict measuring device. Instead, opting for hand gestures:

When running, I have asked players who have acted a lot to take a moment so that the rest of the players can shine. It's been well received so far, and it is usually a sign that they are very engaged in the game.
