Unfortunately, this is confirmed news.

Not remotely what you want to see. Wishing everyone at NI the best in a tough time, and hoping that in the restructuring process, the tools find a good home. Details:

Operating systems, browsers, web search, and CDNs are all infrastructure. Infrastructure should be publicly owned and run.

Between the BBC and open source software, the UK could be free from Microsoft and Google within this parliament
Now more than ever, the UK needs to build and protect its digital infrastructure.

A digital sovereignty strategy should prioritise Open Source software and interoperable systems for essential services and across government.

This would stimulate innovation and capacity in the domestic tech sector.

We need a Digital Sovereignty strategy to reduce our reliance on US tech companies.

The Cybersecurity Bill is in Parliament TODAY.

MPs must ensure our digital infrastructure isn't vulnerable to policies and actions of foreign powers like the US and China.

I think the only way to sustain a scene in your region, whether it be small or large, is through simple kindness. Talk to your neighbors dude, if they’re gonna be a dick that’s their problem but it doesn’t need to be your default modus operandi as well.

Do read this. It’s by Brian Eno for @thenerve.news & it’s about this generation’s BandAid.

Lullaby is based on a traditional Palestinian melody, all proceeds go to Gaza, it would be amazing for it to be Xmas no 1, but more than that, buying it is a political act 👊
“Let's make Together for Palestine's record this year's Christmas No 1.” Musician and activist Brian Eno explains why one song in particular matters this Christmas.

There's plenty not to like about British Xmas music, especially if you ever had to work in retail or pubs in December, but it's fundamentally *party* music. US Xmas music is schmaltz.

One of my big bugbears -- the way Spotify playlists have, in just a handful of years, replaced British Xmas music (leery boozed-up Brummies with ridiculous facial hair) with American Xmas music (cardigans and expensive dentistry).
