This means in Llano, books will wrongly remain off the shelf. But as Americans, we still believe in the values of the First Amendment and that future court rulings in many other circuit courts will assert that belief.
For more background on what is at stake for library users’ first amendment rights, @texaspublicradio.bsky.social had a good piece. The activist ruling from the Fifth Circuit will now stand in Tx, LA and MS and potentially influence other courts. www.tpr.org/education/20...

Folks might not know a lot of people are getting *very* upset that the materials they request are not available in the libraries/archives they're requesting from.

We're getting lots here at the Library of Virginia: requests of documents likely surfaced by large language models that *do not exist*.

“Among those in the crowd was William McKernan, a 17-year-old high school student who lives in Astoria and attended P.S. 166.

'Kids shouldn’t be kidnapped,’ he said. 'I used to go to 166 and want to show up because I hate seeing this happen in my neighborhood, in my school and in my country.’”
Taking children from their families is not normal.

Six-year-olds know it. Even if POTUS doesn’t.

Thanks to @indivisible.org Western Queens, PS 166 families, and his teacher Rachel, whose beautiful description of Yuanxin Zheng reduced us all to tears.

In the era of slavery, free black people had to carry their "free papers" with them so they could prove to the authorities that they were free, or else they would be thrown in jail and sold.
BASH: If ICE says it doesn't arrest US citizens, why do we keep seeing incidents of them aggressively pursuing citizens?

HOMAN: I can't tell you how many times an illegal alien claims to be a US citizen. It happens all the time.

Important advice thread for ICE in Minnesota.
Hey, I want to offer some helpful tips for coping with the cold for ICE folks who might have come from warmer places.

1. Wear cotton socks! Cotton is nice and soft next to your skin and will absorb your sweat so your feet stay warm. Cotton everything but ESPECIALLY socks!
Good morning to fuckers in our neighborhood kidnapping our neighbors! Can you see the city skyline? No? You’re wondering if Minneapolis burned down again overnight? Oh no, sweetie. That’s ice crystals in the air . It looks like it will get to around -8F without windchill! Please enjoy your stay!

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.
