Minneapolis. Gen X mom to a preschooler. Government IT employee. She/her.
I’m reading a 1970s edition of an art history book. In the first chapter we have “queer” to mean odd, “Negro” and “the Red Indians of North America.” It’s a well respected book and I assume current versions do not use these terms, but reading them is jarring.

Just texted a family we're helping and the grandma is hopeful the kids will be able to go back to school on Monday. I hope she is right, but she's a lot more positive about this than I am.

Someone was abducted at 10 AM by ICE on Central Ave. Their coworker says they’ve lived here for over 20 years, are documented, and have 3 kids who were born here.

Don’t be fooled by headlines when they’ve been lying to us the whole time. We still need you out patrolling until every agent is gone.

Someone out there investigating all the drone activity? My block/immediate neighborhood had a bunch of them last night and neighbors got video. Everyone assumes it’s ICE.

For weeks, (months?) federal agents have been deliberating ramming other vehicles in order to do their abductions.

This is the inevitable consequence.
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

ICE has been active this morning staging in St Anthony so we still need people out patrolling our neighborhoods.

I’m headed to the Capitol today ahead of session starting next week to work on the 70 bills we have around ICE.

My sense of Minnesota today is that there’s less tear gas and the same amount of unlawful detention, destruction of families, loss of livelihood, people in hiding.

There is less tear gas at places like Lake and Lyndale, so it’s not making news.

This could be a response to dozens of different things over the past week. Incompetence paired with evil and it is exhausting.
The sheer incompetence of this administration is staggering

ACAB, but I do like when the Bloomington police catch people in sex trafficking and underage prostitution stings.
Bloomington Police just announced they've arrested a Department of Defense employee in a sex trafficking sting. The police chief said his job is to do background checks and security clearance checks on ICE agents.

Learned today that I likely have a claim to Canadian Citizenship thanks to a Reddit post. Would like very much for me and my kid to become Canadians in the near future. Both for the escape plan features and the travelling on a non-US passport features.

However my Internal ICE Sources say they’re having a field day outstate, picking up tons of people with zero local opposition. Nightmarish. I can’t believe I’m saying this but come back to Minneapolis where it’s a fair fight

I went to the new Mexican Grocery on 66th in Richfield. That place is awesome! Beautiful cakes, fresh made chips, a huge baked goods area, a cheese counter and more. Also, what is basically a food court for eating on site.

To be clear, I counted HCSO deputies, State Patrol troopers, and DNR Conservation Officers among all the police present. MnDOT plow trucks blocked roads entering the area around Whipple, which obstructed the way for at least one ambulance. This is on Sheriff Dawanna Witt and @governorwalz.mn.gov.

my colleagues at @racketmn.com are raising funds for a local mom who needs help with rent. the total is $4,785—we’re trying to raise $4,000 as a four-person newsroom.

i believe racket readers can do it this weekend!!!

PP: @biketrouble

please share widely and donate if you can!

tomorrow i would really like to challenge a few folks with larger followings than me to adopt a rent and raise it in one day.

my little group chat and my followers have paid like 70 families rents in the past four days. i believe that some of y’all could help us keep one family housed.
today's report:

our "adopt a rent" venmo campaign paid 43 families rents who were at risk of evictions, including several moms of 4+ children

this is the way to get rent paid fast. like. 1000x better than any other way.
