Pete Hegseth's Pentagon prayer service featured far-right pastor Doug Wilson, who believes women should not be allowed to vote and openly embraces pedophiles.

Maya is trying to narrow the breadth of books that will compete with hers.

This take is ... like, cataclysmically stupid. Just so absolutely absurd. I want to read Moby-Dick AGAIN because of this.
Meanwhile, on threads, which actually is like what people on twitter think bluesky is like, a "teacher, author, poet" speaks...

Reddit when TTPD came out: It's so wordy and dense, and that "Down Bad" song is so crass. Why isn't this good like Midnights? I might be over Taylor now.

When Showgirl came out: why isn't this wordier? That "Wood" song is so crass. Why isn't this good like TTPD? I might be over Taylor now.

Yesterday was way too busy to work out, so I’m jumping back into my routine with my beloved arm day. Bis and tris and John Irving: this is how we do Wednesday morning.

Up and at em! Shown here, the kid is trying to squeeze 10 minutes of the new John Irving audiobook into his morning routine of making coffee and brushing teeth before he sits down to write. His smile is like that because of the third person description, which is hella cringe.

WRESTLING
Got to Vienna!
At the start of the new John Irving book and we’ve already hit tattoos, orphans, logging, prep schools, sex workers, abortions, and Charles Dickens. No bears, wrestling, or Vienna yet, but I’m only on chapter 11.

I realize treating my mild depression about my thyroid levels (and thus my belly weight) not really changing after months of medication, intermittent fasting, and working out by eating night Oreos is counterproductive. And yet.

I've said it NUMEROUS times: Newsom isn't a great guy and he's probably not presidential material, but the massive lie that he's been trying to destroy trans lives more than Republicans when almost the exact opposite is true is such a Bluesky more lefty than thou construct.
Biden was the most pro-trans president in history, and I'm sick and fucking tired of liars like Michael claiming that Newsom, who has personally signed dozens of trans rights legislation, is suddenly going to be exactly the same as Republicans on issues like trans rights.

It's deeply dishonest.
idk man, if democratic primary voters want to once again nominate a candidate who has decided certain minority groups must be fed into the right wing woodchipper, then those same primary voters cannot complain when some members of those
minority groups say no thanks. that’s the price of fascism-lite

Not fully awake, my neck is sort of aching this morning, and I’ve got a lot of writing to do. Let’s get back to work!

We usually go to Ruth’s Chris on our anniversary and this year was particularly nice. They put hearts on the table and everyone said happy anniversary and they played a lot of great music. Shawn looked elegant and handsome and I was, of course, me. 27 years. What a great time.

Perfect anniversary gift from perfect husband! Shawn knows how to fuel my mellow moods. 27 years of us! Now off to dinner!

Done with my taxes. For the first year in about a decade, I owe, and it’s not insignificant. This and the HeAthens Homecoming weekend combined are making it harder for me to pay off February before my March trip, but let’s have a little faith. Related: hire me, I’m talented!

Home again, home again, jiggedy-jog! And landing feet first. Day off, but lots of post- vacation errands and art and writing and taxes. The American Dream! Sort of?!

Disney: So. The breadfruit tree no one has ever mentioned in Living with the Land got too big for its enclosure, so we had to remove it. We’ll likely replace it with a smaller version.

Fans: this is literally the only reason I’m a passholder, why does Disney do these things JUST to ruin childhoods?
