There is one overlooked monetary canary in the coal mine, and it is a BIG one. One year ago today, silver was $30.84 an ounce. Two years ago, it was $22 an ounce.

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

NOEM IS LYING. I have seen people get taken! It was the same each time: armed men racing out of a blacked-out SUV, seizing a screaming or fleeing pedestrian, and pulling them into the car without any attempt to even learn their identity. Always a person alone on the street. Always a person of color.

The first thing Virginia Spanberger did after being sworn in as Governor of Virginia was repeal Youngkin’s executive order requiring state and local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE.
This is the kind of leadership Democratic governors nationwide should be emulating.

1/ Not that anyone should take my opinion on MN next steps as fact (unless FLR and chastity ate somehow involved), but I think Walz did the right thing bringing in the national guard. His order specifically references protecting peaceful protestors AND federal buildings. This is deliberate wording.
