I canceled my subscription a couple months ago, mostly because I had a subscription for years but it never let me log in and I was tired of paying money just to hit the most rigorous paywall on a website that was so bloated with ads it slowed my browser down.

You can’t blame it all on private equity and Facebook. Some of the death of your local paper is good old fashioned incompetence, and racism.

Anyway this is one of the reasons local journalism is dying and people don’t want to support their papers when they do crap like this and then fire the journalist who call it out

Don’t tell me local journalism is going to save us while it also does crap like this. And all for what? “Fairness”? Is it fair to say there is no good immigrant? The end game is vast harm to our communities.

The Des Moines Register published an op-ed by a man who believes in the great replacement theory and wrote for Vdare. The op-Ed argues no immigrant can be vetted enough to be safe to enter this country. White washing racism in the name of local journalism.

Super exciting news: I just found out I was accepted to the AIM-AHEAD Bridge2AI: Clinical Care Training Program!

Very excited about this, and I'm going to give building a digital twin a try.

Program starts next week and will run through July.

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Someone defending their ability to love Harry Potter without supporting JK Rowling saying “if Toriyama was on the Epstein list, people could still love Dragon Ball”

1) that’s a hell of a hypothetical to suggest

2) based on how people reacted to Neil Gaiman this last year, I don’t know if I agree.

Y’all are reading this paper in the wrong way.

We love to trash dominant hypothesis, but we need to look for evidence against the manifold hypothesis elsewhere:

This elegant work doesn't show neural dynamics are high D, nor that we should stop using PCA

It’s quite the opposite!

(thread)
“Our findings challenge the conventional focus on low-dimensional coding subspaces as a sufficient framework for understanding neural computations, demonstrating that dimensions previously considered task-irrelevant and accounting for little variance can have a critical role in driving behavior.”
Neural dynamics outside task-coding dimensions drive decision trajectories through transient amplification
Most behaviors involve neural dynamics in high-dimensional activity spaces. A common approach is to extract dimensions that capture task-related variability, such as those separating stimuli or choice...
