Mostly poetry and soccer from an antifascist, neurodivergent, genderqueer, Christian heretic perspective. Also practical and impractical uses of language and images in and out of our current context, and an item a day from the published archives.

A lack of connection.
My purpose in life
is depleted.

An opportunity
that is as if deleted.

Feelings that have receded.
By false optimism I was greeted.

An opportunity
that is uprooted.

Nourish beginnings, let us nourish beginnings.

Not all things are blest, but the seeds
of all things are blest.
The blessing is in the seed.

This moment, this seed,
this look, this instant of love.

One life, or the faring stars.

I'm happy about this. He's a good replacement for Bedoya in terms of hustle and grit and every now and then a #DOOP. He's a good fit for the system. People who don't like the system won't be thrilled. www.philadelphiaunion.com/news/philade...

for all who cannot stagger it—
we stand like kept dogs
waiting at the elevator,
holding an unspoken “stay.”

Watched the second half of SDFC 1-0 MNUFC. One great shot, a couple of great saves. San Diego vs. Whitecaps for the Western Conference championship.

Zolos got into a short-passing skill fight with NYCFC which is just not Union Ball, kept dumping crosses in from the left with 3 defenders standing in front of Mr. Freeze, missed on the few chances they did create, and unsurprisingly lost without a #DOOP. At least there is the Shield.

The Union don't have the money to buy a new one, so ...

Only hope is to forcefeed enough young talent through the pipeline, maybe with some change-of-pace types (I think Iloski is one), to buck the trend
It simply does not work against high-level teams with time to prepare and the emotional fuel that is a playoff matchup. You need more control, and you need more top-end quality.

It's a good experiment and I'm glad we have teams with different game models in this league, but the data's the data.
