Mood

I'm doing a massive perspective shift edit on my WIP

Laying in bed, as one does when recovering from bodily woes

One of my fluffernutters decided to try his paws at DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE for ~2 hrs, all up and down my legs and butt

16lbs of cat on 2 to 4 smol snoeshoes = ow + much bruising

I’ve learnt that only hyperfocus can keep me from disappointing others. Sometimes.
Two-page comic about ADHD, self-doubt, and burnout.

Panels 1+2
A person with short black hair and yellow antennae recalls lifelong struggles with effort and recognition. As a child, they cry while being scolded over homework. Later, they work hard but still fail small details and receive an “F.” When they finally succeed, they can’t enjoy it—holding a medal labeled “2,” they feel it’s luck, not skill.

Panel 3+4
Page 2:
They explain how productivity fluctuates. A blue graph shows steady effort, while a pink line spikes wildly. They say, “For me, it fluctuates more extremely.” Sitting exhausted at a messy desk, they admit, “I only stop when I’m too tired to go on. The word I learned for all this was ‘lazy.’ I never learned a healthy measure or how to trust myself.”

It is, however, making me POIGNIANTLY aware of how badly I need an editor (and then a copyeditor, if I had a dollar for every typo I've made in the past week I'd have multiple student loan payments >.<)

But those are *also* problems I get to address once I have a full draft
kittybard.bsky.social
On the one hand, it's a little rough, having to go back and do a whole damn POV switch from 3rd to 1st person in my WIP

On the other, it's going really smoothly (will cross 50% mark today), and I'm gaining momentum and the one block I had is unsticking

MTG is the lovechild of a stopped clock and a loose cannon

No matter whether she is right or wrong, she *will* make it everyone else's problem

I don't expect to ever respect or forgive her. I *do* think it's a macabre flavor of meta-funny, how hard she's pushing so folks can keep coverage

(slice & brown an onion, then add water + your frozen carcass + leftover veggie parts like broccoli stems + a garlic powder & salt & corriander with a dash of lemon juice and let it simmer for hours - topping up the pot with water every once in a while - you get a yummy chicken stock, freezes well)

(Personally, I tend to favor greek yogurts with fruit in them)

Rotisserie chickens are usually priced kinda okay, even with how much grocery prices have increased; prioritize eating breasts

If you have access to a big pot, freeze the leftover carcass + skin for later use

Do you have any limitations on dairy?

If not, yogurt can be a really good option that can also help keep your GI tract in good health during a time when it can be prone to jankening (many pain meds can throw a wrench in your system)

That terrible moment when tripping over your own foot, putting in your nightguard, and a surprise sneeze coincide

(In other words, I just accidentally punched myself in the back of the mouth on one side)

This is gonna be a *lovely* bruise, isn't it?

Rereading Sabriel is always a good option imo

(I am going to feed my fluffernutters SO MUCH fresh catnip once I can make it out to the back patio again)

Embodiment was a mistake

Words are supposed to be my #1 export, not blood XP

(Period after body skipped a month. It charged interest.)

However

Both cats are pulling shifts as big fluffy heating pads; even wobblecat Justify has figured out how to limit his fidgets and wobbles to help me

Anywho, programs like these are awesome and it's beyond fuckwitted that they are being compromised
kittybard.bsky.social
They went ham and have been pushing to get installs in before incentives disappear

We end up owning the panels, repair/servicing for iirc 15 yrs is no cost to us, and for at least ~8 mos of the year we should have excess power

A very friendly alignment of mutual interests

We got super lucky (Pittsburgh area)

Power co's been struggling due to high loads, can't buy cheap power from Ohio anymore to make up the diff cuz of data center draw etc.

Teamed up with a solar energy provider to get solar installs on homes likely to produce excess (location + usage combo)

one reason I don't believe in invisible prose is we all fuck up sometimes. no edit is perfect. clockmakers and quilters know not to trespass in that divine domain. if you're doing something cool and you trip, I get it. if you're doing nothing and you write a clunker? I'm not gonna forget it

Iirc, there's bonus fuckery of a global helium shortage.

Doesn't excuse everything, but does compound the existing systemic fuckeries by compromising availability of MRI and other medical imaging which depends upon liquid helium

delighted to report that MARGHOULRITAVILLE is open for the season
Andrea's yard Halloween display is up and running: a load of actual human-sized skeletons in lawn chairs and a hammock, enjoying the "Marghoulritaville" bar with light-up drinks and a fun palm tree A close-up of the Marghoulritaville bartender, a Grim Reaper-style skeleton with a scythe

Doylestown is in Bucks County, which is basically where a lot of historically rich families plus lawyers and doctors and such end up living, and is generally painfully white with oodles of white HOA hellscapes

I wouldn't group it with Philly at all

Montgomery county would be a far better bet

Anywho, am ~15% of the way through the rewrite already, and I look forward to seeing how it strengthens the impact of other chunks of this WIP
kittybard.bsky.social
Turns out that converting it requires relatively little effort, compared to working on new segments

DEFINITELY gonna be spicy to catch all the typos (bonus: no autocarrot or spellcheck, I'm drafting in .txt files :P)

But this is already smoothing out most of my concerns about the early chapters

I would like it known that, when my body arbitrarily* skipped the Bloodpocalypse entirely last month, I wrote most of a whole damn book

Now it's back with a vengeance, which might risk my momentum, except I realized I needed to switch from 3rd --> 1st person POV

*probably stress, but I digress
