I have two kitties. They produce plenty o’ poop every day in roughly 5 minutes. Far more efficient than shitting all over Twitter.

They sleep 16+ hours per day and spend at least 4 vying for space on my lap.

Catturd? I’m so sorry to say you are doing it wrong.

Get offline and touch litter.

It’s increasingly clear to me that the reason the six reactionaries on SCOTUS won’t commit to definitively resolving issues on the shadow docket is that they reserve the prerogative to apply diametrically different standards should a Democratic president be elected in the future.

Amy Coney Barrett defends heavy use of the shadow docket: "If we wrote a long opinion, it might give the impression that we have finally resolved the issue, and in none of these cases have we finally resolved the issue."

These utter ghouls seem to believe that their wealth will protect them no matter what. They haven’t stopped for a moment to contemplate how they or a loved one could get cancer or another condition that lacks effective treatments. But if that happens, all the money in the world won’t save them.

I want to know what happened in this regard, too. If the mother had even partial custody, the children should be with her unless she had lost custody altogether for some reason.

I feel deeply for his family. But I’m frustrated at how the article skates over the boys’ mom.

You laugh! But I actually got caught in quicksand in a bog in Scotland about 30 years ago. I was going down, and what did my friend do? She laughed! As if we were in a Warner Brothers cartoon!

Around the time I was up to my knees, the whole group gathered and yanked me out. Now we can laugh. 😹

I endorse this. I urge all protesters to wear silly costumes to ramp up the absurdity to 11.

Protesters getting cuffed should insist on calling the arresting officers “Daddy” just to make them feel weird as hell about the whole thing.

If Greg Abbott and his cronies have their way, the class will be brought back in a future semester, now titled Cultivating Oppression and Injustice.

Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

the basic problem is that it is easier to reproduce an artist's style in almost every detail or answer most questions with like 88% accuracy than to walk up four steps

Let us hope that since MIT has led the way in refusing this so-called compact, the other universities will screw up their courage and follow.

If they don’t, Trump will come for all universities.

I’ve got a felt grape suit in three different shades of purple that turns 40 years old this fall. I sewed it myself when I was in college. And though it’s a little mangy after all these years, it will serve very well indeed as my costume for No Kings!

Exactly. Everything the Trump administration is trying against so-called gang members, “illegals,” cartels, and supposed criminals will be unleashed against completely law-abiding, peaceful citizens who simply oppose his regime.

Trump and his goons publicize this to intimidate us. We must not bend.

Anyone who looks at this image and says to themselves: “cool, totally normal, nothing to worry about here!?” is complicit in killing democracy and the rule of law.

My worry is that this description applies to somewhere between 35% and 45% of my fellow American citizens.

Please prove me wrong.

This is out of hand. These agents are there to cause trouble and violence, not to keep people safe. These are the scenes that play out in war torn, destitute countries - not America.

If it's an insurrection, and it's been going on for a long time, why hasn't the DOJ arrested or indicted anyone for insurrection, rebellion, sedition, or conspiracy to commit any of these crimes? If it's so obvious and so dangerous, why aren't the DOJ and the FBI doing anything?

The same people who thought the government had to back off Cliven Bundy and his supporters - who were pointing guns at the feds in support of their theft of federal land - think we've got to bomb people pointing and laughing.

There's a pithy quote about people who love violence and fear mockery.

To clarify: the fact that CDC guidance is now that even folks 65+ get a provider consult before a covid shot is problematic not just b/c it may make it harder for elders to access the vax. It's that the guidance creates new vax hesitancy: elders may think they *should* see a provider 1st or that...

As reported on the news tonight: the CDC has just issued its covid vax recommendations, & they say even folks 65 & older should get advice from a provider before being vaccinated. That's even more restrictive than the ACIP's rec's, & will make it harder for high-risk folks like the elderly to get...

This is an incisive analysis of the global trend toward authoritarian strongmen.

Leaders like Trump are narcissistically wounded little boys. They never grow out of being a bully.

It’s on us, regular citizens, to make them accountable.

I wish we'd stop referring to men such as Trump, Farage and Stephen Yaxley-Lennon as strong men. They're bullies, and all bullies are cowards. There's nothing remotely strong about these men, except their need to control.

A well-known historian of women and the family in America, Stephanie Coontz, interviewed women who had worked in advertising in New York in the early 1960s, and many of them recoiled from Mad Men because it was too close to the harassment they remember!
