I'm told I'll seem more like a real person if I put something here
And that will make it less likely that I'll get blocked
But then I think about how strong the desire not to be perceived is
And I wonder why I'd want to avoid being blocked

Ninety-nine red balloons, floating in the Texas sky
Panic bells, it's red alert, there's something here from somewhere else
The War Department springs to life, opens up one laser eye
Seems the Pentagon is testing anti-drone high-energy lasers near Fort Bliss in El Paso, and didn't feel this was dangerous enough to close airspace over.

The FAA administrator disagreed.

Last week, these lasers successfully protected the American people from a sinister children's party balloon.
Airspace closure followed spat over drone-related tests and party balloon shoot-down, sources say
Pentagon officials had undertaken planning to use military technology near Fort Bliss, in El Paso, to practice downing drones.

Basically anytime you find yourself looking for a synonym for "stupid:"

1. You're probably about to grab an ableist slur, and
2. You should instead find a word that's more precise.

Do you mean ridiculous? Shallow? Specious? Absurd? Careless? Inconsistent? Obvious? Cliched? Watered down?
I used "smooth-brained" as a dig until a father of a boy with lissencephaly -- the medical term for the condition -- wrote me an incredibly patient note to explain what his son had to deal with.

This phrase is a gratuitous insult to parents and children who are already suffering. Don't use it.
Finally, a Smooth-Brained Wuthering Heights
Emerald Fennell’s Emily Brontë adaptation is brave enough to just be about two messy bitches.

You're absolutely right – this actually *isn't* a place of honor.
* I thought esteemed deeds were commemorated here, but that was wrong.
* The message wasn't about treasure, it was about danger. That's on me.
* I won't sugarcoat it – the danger is still present, and now it's in your body.

143 here. It has a really clever matching system. I'm furious with myself for all the things that were just on the border of my mind that I couldn't come up with.

I just switched to a new phone. "I'll let it copy over all my apps, then go through and delete the ones I don't want," I thought.

And that is how I learned that I have six different "control Wi-Fi enabled lights" apps installed.

The Sky is a Poisonous Garden by Concrete Blonde

I've got another one but the lead singer is an asshole so I'm going with this.
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

This is a totally normal thing for someone in Trump's party to post to demonstrate their support for his goals while distancing himself from the fallout.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

I just made caramel popcorn with maple syrup instead of corn syrup and I don't know how I've survived this long without it. It's so good. It tastes exactly like those pure maple sugar candies that taste so good but halfway through you're totally overloaded on sugar. But this just keeps going!

This podcast is so joyful and fun! When a new episode pops up, I put it on as soon as I can.
I literally created a podcast just for fun to put more joy into the world, to offer something different to take a break from bleakness with!

So please check it out: @multitudespodcast.bsky.social

Listen in bed, on a walk, with a cuppa or a coffee or a meal...

Find joy where you can, lovelies 💗
The vibes are pretty bleak right now. It's tempting to hide in bed, doomscroll, or get into fights with people online.

What helps me:
-Walking my dog
-Eating food I enjoy
-Donating to mutual aid
-Short to-do lists
-Lifting weights
-Reading a book
-Making plans with friends
-Going to sleep early

It's also important to plan things to look forward to. Movies to watch, books to read, time with family and friends, meals, cuddles with a pet, a vacation; both short and long-term things that will bring you joy, comfort, and a sense of community. These are essential to making it through tough times

Ooh, a fresh batch of four for my last four watched. Funny enough, it has two movies that are predominantly black and white with some color, although one of them has a lot more color than the other.
