There's this kind of pattern that shows up where people seem to believe that artists don't really like making art, so a machine that solves the puzzle for you would be happily received because now you have the solved puzzle

SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Years ago at a con I got a set of pint glasses with the logos of the various corps from Attack on Titan on them, and I like them very well, but have discovered that one is missing

it is the survey corps one though, which feels very fitting

It all just came up in my heart because I saw a post about Trump wanting to do something good so he can get into Heaven, and, idk, I don't think my religion is transactional like that, you're not going to be able to pull the ToS and argue that as a technical matter you have earned your way in.

Something a priest said that really rattled me was that in the story of the prodigal son, the father has two sons who can't wait for him to die, it's just that one stayed at home to seethe. Obeyed his father, did all the right things, and couldn't stand the old fool.

The Christian life (as in, living the Beatitudes) is, as I understand it, about forming your soul into something that can withstand Heaven. Sin forms a habit of mind that makes Heaven intolerable.

The thing about "love your enemies" is that it isn't just a silly little hurdle like a fraternity hazing, the LORD loves your enemies, and Heaven isn't going to have gated communities, there are going to be all sorts of people up there and they will be unavoidable.

Saw this brave claim from a known maker of brave claims that next year they'd release a video game entirely made by AI and, idk man, that this is more interesting than anything else about the game speaks to how much faith they have in the product
