Liam’s mom dressed him in all those layers to keep her little boy warm and safe in this frigid weather, packed his book-bag w/ everything he’d need for a good day at school, and then our govt stole him out of their driveway. Used her little boy as bait. These people are monsters.

Honestly, I think the first thing Democrats should do is remind Americans that DHS and ICE didn't even exist until 2003. It's not like it's a long standing institution that must be preserved. It was created in the wake of 9/11 to combat terrorism and it's exceeded its mandate. We don't need it.

I’m biased, but I usually want to hear anthropologists weigh in on most topics. Often something will hit the news (Venezuela, weight loss drugs, rare earth mineral mining) and I want to know what someone who’s been living that topic for years has to say. Anthros are good for social media like that.

Good question. It would be great if we could find some ways to rebuild some of those networks (while also avoiding what happened with Twitter in which it could all be destroyed with a change in ownership). Many anthros are on here...it's a matter of finding/creating ways to bring folks together.

@dramandar.bsky.social #CryingLaughing listener (and fan) here. Hi! And HNY! Did you publish your end-of-year top 10 lists (yours and Ariel's) somewhere (e.g. on a blog somewhere or other social media)? Thanks for the fun and good work you do on this podcast, and for Severance as well.

ICE killed a Black man, Keith Porter, 7 days before Renee Good, and I hadn't heard about it until today. His vigils went unnoticed. His life came and gone and America forgot to blink.

Renee Good, who was murdered in cold blood today by ICE, was a queer woman. June "T-Rex" Knightly, who was murdered in Portland, was a queer woman. The ICE detainees who were sexually assaulted in Louisiana are queer women and trans men.
