It's always fun to watch (once a decade or so) when someone puts a house on a barge and sends it through Seattle's ship canals to some final resting place.

But for all the supposed value in an old structure, most people aren't willing to pay to preserve it if their own money is involved.
I had a reporter reach out to me about the potential for relocating rather than demolishing homes, presumably mainly those slated for redevelopment. It's something I've only read a tiny bit about. Anyone out there know more, especially if you've researched the topic?

Anyway, for those who are intrigued by wealthy failcouples getting into farming:

I did a whole video on how the Neelemans can't even get beef right. And beef is a LOT easier than raw dairy.

Now, unlike the "bomb a wallmart" analogy, you have to admit that they did actually live in a tent and complain about liberals.
I get that Occupy Wall Street was a formational experience for some people but it was a total and comprehensive failure, we’re now at peak oligarchy!

“Your plan of winning voters to your side pales in comparison to my strategy of living in a tent and complaining about liberals”

Amazing.

These are *loans*, which the applicants pay back, having generated surplus value that they support themselves with and plow back into the economy, and make our economy more varied, more interesting, wealthier.

The process for applying for an SBA loan is thorough, exhaustive.

BERNIE SANDERS: Do vaccines cause autism?

BHATTACHARYA: I do not believe that the measles vaccine causes autism

SANDERS: Nah. Uh uh. I didn't ask measles. Do vaccines cause autism?

BHATTACHARYA: I have not seen a study that suggests any single vaccine causes autism

I had the (very unoriginal!) idea to give away whistles at my brewery.

Then I was informed there’s this network of businesses giving away whistles (cool! I hadn’t known that!)

I was sent an application to join, was asked what signal groups we’re part of & honestly lost interest really rapidly.
Ugh. The main anti-ICE group in Washington which has 44k followers on Facebook and has been going around to communities promoting classes is now promoting this anti-whistle nonsense for "harm reduction" reasons as well.

Host on NPR just now described a desired scenario for AI usage: transcribe all my voice mails, then read that transcription to me while I make dinner.

Every 15 minutes, wish it were every 12!

But also, I would love to see it split into the 62 West and the 62 East, with the turnaround point for each at Roosevelt station.
Just, lol at calling the 62 an "infrequent, minor bus route"

read online that someone set-up a premium rate phone number where callers get charged $3.99/ min. then they posted flyers in their neighborhood that said "call this number to report illegal aliens," but the number just puts them on hold with music. so far, they've made $17,000

“Four floors and corner dive bars“ doesn’t rhyme, though.
These kinds of human scale, mixed-use Midwest dive bars are illegal to open and operate in most American neighborhoods.

Happy February!

Welcome to most underrated and fastest improving month. You start in the depths of winter and end waking up in the light to the sound of birds singing, to the sight of snowdrops, daffodils and early blossom in the trees

It's going to be pretty funny if all the redistricting in red states gives Speaker AOC a 200 seat majority in the house in January 2027.
the extreme Texas gerrymander that set off all the redistricting wars is almost entirely predicated on the assumption that the Hispanic Republican shift in 2024 was permanent and could perhaps even be expanded on so we are now at DEFCON-2 for something extremely funny happening in November.

I mean this in the spirit of curiosity: why the fuck did the Biden DOJ not release these Epstein files?

Were they just completely asleep at the wheel? Did Trump have the files stashed away in a Maralago bathroom?

Seriously what the fuck.

There is an entire class of people who believe that housing is a naturally occurring resource, the supply is fixed, and that the only thing that can be done about prices is to reduce demand.

People who think like this are the target for this kind of ad.

Well, at least we committed all the transit tax dollars, for the rest of our lifetimes, to commuter train lines to everett and issaquah instead of highly functional lines in the dense areas of our region.
Ripping up Seattle's cable car lines was pretty boneheaded.

A few blocks from our middle school today there were at least a couple hundred kids waving signs and chanting. Interested to hear from our kid whether he was there.
I've heard from two friends that the kids at my kid's former middle school are marching around the track chanting "Fuck ICE"

"No terms except an unconditional and immediate surrender can be accepted. I propose to move immediately upon your works."
Minneapolis should press its momentum and demand not only withdrawal but start talking about the need for immediate reparations, loudly, with the total certainty that only winners have. "You have wronged us terribly and must pay recompense" and let them argue the second part.
