The Art Blakey section of my collection is big, and enabled the Lee Morgan section of my collection, which is about as big.

Born on this day in 1919, Art Blakey—jazz drumming legend and founder of The Jazz Messengers. For 35 years, he turned rhythm into mentorship, shaping generations of greats with every beat.

sounds like a pretty cool color, though.

For a giant ground sloth, a 15 minute city would be pretty compact, I imagine.

rip to the giant sloth from the middle to late pliestocene and extinct since the arrival of early man at the end of the last ice age, you would have loved mixed use urban redevelopment districts

He is no longer under 18, he's no longer a bystander. Get his ass.

looks like bullying Baron is back on the menu, boys

Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

The frog brigade is officially on scene at the Portland ICE facility. Despite the wet weather, spirits are very high.

I'm a landlord (in Seattle, not Bozeman), and I think it's pretty great!

No idea what wife and kids are watching, but I overheard her saying "no, listen to me - you do not get to be the senior partner at a big downtown law firm without..." and I couldn't hear the rest.

Sounds like mom is ruining a movie for the kids. :)

Can we fly Alexis in for zoning meetings in Seattle?

if anyone has recs for activism opportunities in southern california where they need a middle aged white lady to show up and be a huge bitch between the hours of 9am and 2pm, please let me know

Welp. Guess we better get building!
kptrease.bsky.social
Feels like there's a lot of area that's technically part of the Seattle MSA where just very few people live and we count that in the average.

From wiki.

"Population-weighted density's dependence on parcel size can often lead to criticism as lack of standardization can make population-weighted density difficult to compare across locales. Additionally, the choice of parcel to use is often poorly justified."

Not all sports can be as good as baseball, true.

I am curious to know more about a sorting methodology that ranks Las Vegas as denser than Seattle.
reluctantaxe.bsky.social
A Redditor made a graph of the percent of population of US and Canada metro areas over 1 million that live in a given density. When they ordered them by average density the lowest ranked Canadian metro area, Edmonton, was ranked 14th between Miami and Washington. 6 of the top 15 were Canadian metros

Downtown could have "like, a 10-foot wall" where people could talk to AI versions of historical figures. "How cool would this be if we had like, a 10 foot wall. It's interactive and it's historical. And you could talk to Martin Luther King."...
kptrease.bsky.social
Is that all the time, or is that a special thing for GABF, which is in town this weekend?
kptrease.bsky.social
I think trail access here would be fine, but saying that the UNBA doesn't want pedestrians or cyclists is... really weird.

I go there frequently, and run a small business nearby.

"bring a car or stay out" is so bizarrely far from the truth. Not sure what you're doing here.

Might as well win….well, you know the rest.

My 12yo went off and wandered around in the top of every inning and demanded I call him back to the screen for the bottom.
jonbois.bsky.social
mariners fans are my favorite bunch of fans of any team in any sport. i watched the bottom half of the last seven innings standing up in my living room. thanks for letting me hitch a ride
kptrease.bsky.social
No kidding?

Well, it's baseball. So much data.

If it weren't, it would be the longest one on a Friday after 9PM or something.
kptrease.bsky.social
Not even our longest ALDS game. :)
kptrease.bsky.social
This is bad and you should feel bad.

This is part of why I like the regular season extra runner because .. in theory, extra inning games that go on very long sounds fun, but in practice, they all just start to look like *this.*
kptrease.bsky.social
Okay, this is harder than I naively assumed it would be.

I just want to subscribe to a streaming service that lets me watch MLB.

I do not want to do research on this or type in my creds for the cable service that I do not subscribe to.
kptrease.bsky.social
Middle kid and I have various ESPN feeds going, having realized none of our streaming subscriptions have the game and that we don't have an AM radio in the house.

(I will remedy both these situations if they win!)

Time for a new couch, Jess!

Merely *tied* for the *second* longest ALDS game in M's history.
