THE LIBRARIANS @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social is a *must-see.*

Thanks to @ifla.org Met Lib for the private screening at Toronto Reference Library.

Terrifying, deeply moving. I know several of the librarians & recognized books by many #KidLit #YALit friends. 😢

A large screen beside them displays a slide that reads, “America’s war on books is more than a war on words. THE LIBRARIANS. Directed by Kim A. Snyder.” The slide also shows several film festival logos.

Today’s favourite proof note:

Replace ‘this’ with ‘that.’

Which feels like a short summary of the entire process.

You accomplished so much, Joe! Bravo! Look at those hours.
I had to take a few months off for grad school and just returned. New FAR/AIM and study books arrived today.

Nuance is needed. For example:

The impact of beef, then pork, is much greater than other meats

Not everyone eats the same amounts (see below).

And we have to stop just wasting it! An estimated 40% of the food we create is wasted.

SO many ways to improve our food system.
How a mere 12% of Americans eat half the nation’s beef, creating significant health and environmental impacts

I love upper middle grade novels that challenge young minds. I find my favorite books are often ones written for kids ages 11-14/grades 5-8.

This summer, I read 3 amazing ones:

BLOOD IN THE WATER by Tiffany D. Jackson
GRACIELA IN THE ABYSS by Meg Medina
THE TROUBLE WITH HEROES by @katemessner.com

Eric. This is the best, most wholesome thing I’ve read all year. Congratulations. I love this for all of you.

Years ago (nearly fifteen!) I ran a popular local geek blog, and one of my buddies ran a local tech news site.

For whatever reason, a lot of media folks thought we were rivals, despite being good pals (I mean, I read at his wedding).

But we leaned into it because we thought it was funny.
