I have to admit, I got a bit stuck on what would actually make something -look- experimental. Best I could come up with was something that looked so obviously destined to fail it could never be more than an experiment.

There are so many bugs and yet also so many weird little things in the gen1 games because they crammed so much into that cartridge. The pokedoll skip and also the 'if you beat your rival on route 2 and go back to oak before you catch a pokemon, he gives you 5 free pokeballs' both feel like secrets.

what the fuck do you MEAN you can evolve eevee into jolteon in gen 1 by getting into a trainer battle, levelling eevee up, switching to growlithe, and finishing the battle with growlithe, because growlithe's pokemon index is the same as thunder stone's item index. WHAT. WHATTT
