I will repost this whenever it comes up because that is a portrait of a woman AFTER a bunch of BS happened to her, still being fabulous.
Well, if it’s 26 November, it must be the 139th anniversary of a divorce case so saucy and notorious it gave us the phrase “what the butler saw”, and newspapers suppressed some of the details of the domestic servant in question’s testimony because it was “unfit for publication”

I'm in no position to receive mail like this, but this thread is both amusing and sad to me. Crank-watching has been a firm favourite among my time-wasting activities for decades, but much of the amusement was based on the *obvious* crankery. I don't like that AI helps them polish the crazy.
I am by no means a prominent public intellectual, but my inbox is increasingly filled with messages from people who have been convinced by sycophantic chatbots that they have discovered revolutionary theories that entirely upend our scientific understanding of the universe.

And the opposite of the "time magnifying glass" is the "Zeitraffer" – the "time gatherer" (gathering in the sense of gathering fabric together).
My favourite word for “slow motion”from another language is the German Zeitlupe. It means “time magnifying glass”

I thought the earlier news from A&M was bad, but this is incredibly bleak. It’s close to the point of not having a functional university.
Message to all faculty: your expertise is no longer trusted or valued at this so-called “university.”

This is ridiculous and stupid. It's a Johnny Cash lyric and was posted about a Johnny Cash article. Even the most basic reading comprehension would have revealed this.

I feel like I'm being protected by a vicious guard tortoise that occasionally hisses a few minutes after a car goes by.

I adore this comic and everything @rosemarymosco.com does with all my heart.

But also: I'm more mystified by the people who wonder about this. I never see ANY baby birds of ANY species unless something has gone very badly wrong for them. Where's all the baby [~]? In their nests, mostly above you. 🤨

The ancient road map is very nice.
But where I live didn't get colonised, so there's just no roads.

Come find me in the forest and try not to get ambushed, I guess.
I‘m on my nonsense again. This week’s Six Things:

– ancient road map

– huge piggy landscape

– hardcore Lake District fells

– sneezing responses

– a very short and very silly film about Oreos

– yes you do need another game in your daily routine

Still thinking about yesterday's customer support chatbot telling me "I’m really sorry to hear you’re disappointed. I understand how frustrating this must be."

Coming from a bot, incapable of feeling sorry or understanding anything, this is borderline demeaning.
