in 2026 i'm going to write little essays about skateboarding and life and send them by email to people who'd like to receive them. substack is very bad, metrics are death, and i'd like to write less publicly about these things.

DM or respond with an email addy if you'd like to be included!

The St. Louis Cardinals are pretty clearly going to pitch themselves as underdogs this season and already my lips are pulled back and I'm inhaling through my teeth, eyes very narrow, whole body sort of tight with uh-oh feeling.

Thrift score! $5.99 unopened ream of card stock that costs almost $32 at Office Max. Doing at least some of your printing/assembly yourself and being flexible about paper stocks/colors is a huge part of how I keep costs down and sustain my self-publishing.

Minneapolis is headed towards something resembling a general strike, if you were wondering how the campaign to cow working people into quiescence is going
Last night, The Minneapolis Federation of Educators Local 59 signed on to the call for a Jan 23 shutdown. That brings total labor support to: the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28, and the MFE 59
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

Sara is a dear friend and easily the best writer of all my dear friends. Buy this book.
This week my imprint is publishing an amazing, odd but unputdownable novel, The Hitch by Sara Levine, and the book, deservedly, received one hell of a review in the NYT! www.nytimes.com/2026/01/11/b...

Have you read László Krasznahorkai? Isn't it time? And do you know someone perhaps for whom it's also time? There is no better place to start than the Nobel winner's 1985 debut novel, Satantango. Class starts Jan 15 and runs four weeks with a focus on craft.

really must point out how beneficial writing the phrase "do not despair" in a letter to a friend can be to one's own despairing.

The tragic death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year old mother fatally shot by ICE, shows that ICE can’t be reformed and must be abolished.

I’ll be introducing the Abolish ICE Act as a step toward justice, accountability, and humanity in our immigration policy.

Time to melt ICE.

Got my first @kylebeachy.bsky.social letter and let me tell you, I like that it made me 1.) look up a word that I sort of knew but wanted to be more sure of, and 2.) reminded me that the Nyjah slam is out there in the ether and to avoid seeing it.

I just sent out the first of these and now I am happy, I am genuinely thrilled to say that it's full of typos.
in 2026 i'm going to write little essays about skateboarding and life and send them by email to people who'd like to receive them. substack is very bad, metrics are death, and i'd like to write less publicly about these things.

DM or respond with an email addy if you'd like to be included!
