The only difference between Peter Thiel and a homeless person raving about the end of the world is that Thiel can afford to rent a hall while the homeless guy makes do with a subway platform.

Thiel’s talks, which began on 15 September and ended on Monday, were long and sweeping, mingling biblical passages, recent history and philosophy and sometimes deviating into conspiracy theories. He peppered them with references to video games and TV shows along with musings on JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. He likewise recalled conversations with Elon Musk and Benjamin Netanyahu and spoke at length about how he thinks Bill Gates is “a very, very awful person”.

You may want to work on your reading comprehension. I didn't say that states are not a thing, I said that states CHANGE ALL THE TIME. Go ahead and try to find Yugoslavia or the German Democratic Republic or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on a current map and you will see what I mean.

States in general don't have a right to exist. That's not a thing. States are legal entities that change all the time. The split up, reform, merge with other states, occupy each other, take territory from each other. Treating them like they are a body that shouldn't be harmed is absurd.

SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
