In all seriousness, I'd love to see a reporter try to get comments from all of these people about their initial impulse to declare a literal war on half of their fellow citizens and to see if any of them regret it, apologized for it or learned anything at all from it.
like this is the most irresponsible level of hysteria i’ve ever seen. most of these people are either paid by the republican party, or are high level advisors and allies. this is insane

Thank you Al Green for at least having some balls. Good for you

At best Trump is going to treat any Dems present as stage props whom he can insult; at worst he's going to call them enemies of the people whose opposition to his approach is or ought to be illegal. Being called a traitor on national TV isn't going to make you look determined or dignified.
Jeffries sends a letter to Democrats saying "The decision to attend the Joint Session is a personal one and we understand that members will come to different conclusions. However, it is important to have a strong, determined and dignified Democratic presence in the chamber."

in this house, we have heckin' doggos, we adult like a boss, we drink IPAs, we listen to Matt and Kim, and we also are apparently the only age cohort meaningfully committed to liberal democracy

Just pulling the evidence up that Jeffries ain't got it
No Democrat should be attending Trump’s joint address. The idea being pushed by Jeffries that they will push back with guests is dumb. Trump is a tyrant thug and participating in the speech pageantry assists tyranny.

The biggest reason why I dislike the idea of respectability in dress is because it conflates the *appearance* of virtue with *actual* virtue. Wearing a suit doesn't make you respectful, intelligent, or capable, just as wearing a leather jacket doesn't make you rugged.

I just can't get past the fact that he doesn't see it's a TIE fighter. Even if you've never seen Star Wars, hasn't it infiltrated pop culture enough to recognize it?

Stoked to see Les Snead ranked so high. Dude went all in with Fuck Them Picks and won in 2021. And still they were able to reload the offense AND defense with no first day picks.

He's always been smart about finding guys good at things that fit in with what the Rams do as opposed to combine studs

We're going to be so worse off in 4 years, it's going to be unimaginable

Then we'll vote in a Dem to fix it, he'll (bc no woman will be nominated for a long time) take the blame for it not being turned around overnight and we'll probably elect Jr. or some other dumbass to fuck it up some more
People were not healthier in the past. They just weren't. There was no pre-industrial Eden where people drank raw milk and river water and lived healthy, pain-free lives. You cannot retvrn to good health.

Once again: DST doesn’t solve the problem of going to/from work in the dark.

Instead, when days get shorter in the fall, we should just shorten the workday by an hour.

Then in spring, when we start getting more daylight again, we can shorten the workday by another hour.

Yeah, do not get cocky, do not get complacent.

Act like we’re down 5 and desperate to make up for lost ground.
This thing - don't cancel your plans to door knock, don't cancel your plans to phone bank, don't cancel your plans to do every last thing you can do - just do it with that extra pep in your step!
I love everybody’s “holy shit we’re gonna win??” energy tonight but I’m converting it all into knocking doors tomorrow like Pennsylvania is a dead tie and the next door is going to be the one to break it

(I do think “the campaign that seems to be having more fun wins” is generally true tho)

"kamala harris will protect your right to disagree with her" is something i haven't really heard from another surrogate and i find it genuinely compelling?
NEW: Harrison Ford endorses Kamala Harris.

This is impactful, in part because it comes from someone without a long track record of endorsing candidates.

“I’ve been voting for 64 years. Never really wanted to talk about it very much.”

My students always ask me what they can do as individuals for climate, and here’s what I tell them:

1. Vote for candidates that will do something about climate change
2. Ride a bike
3. Stop eating meat (or at least beef and dairy)
4. Fly less

1. Harris wins, it's not a blowout exactly but it's far enough away from a squeaker

2. This undercurrent of deep fascistic ideas smolders for a very long time in the GOP unless the Dems make some real pushes to radically improve people's everyday lives
i think every political poster on Bluesky should be required to pre-register at least two election takes
