Design cities where folks aren’t commuting 45 minutes both ways. Make retailers use reusable glass containers. Stop mowing lawns mindlessly. AI telling you the things won’t force you to do them. People still “gotta get off they ass” and do things.

What's amazing is how Trump's "peace" fluries skirt his moments of tough talk as everyone acknowledges that he's just giving Putin more time. Last time he was going to insist on a ceasefire. Nothing. Now nothing about the Tomahawks he was supposedly on the verge of providing. No object permanance.

Just cancelled my Spotify subscription after learning of their I.c.e ads. We can’t support authoritarianism and bit$h about it at the same time. Similarly, we can’t bit$h about capitalism and continue giving our money to billionaires (which is pretty complicated to do given the design of the system)

Oral arguments on tariffs are set for Nov 5 and he plans to show up in person. I think there’s a good chance he doesn’t lose outright because Roberts et al like empowering him, but if he thought he was on stronger footing he probably wouldn’t be the first president ever to go to oral arguments

This is good and important work, and it's also surely at least an order of magnitude short of a complete count.

The individual records exist. They should be counted and public even in normal times. As it stands, anybody who tampers with or deletes them should be prosecuted for destroying evidence.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

Immigration agents have the authority to detain whom they reasonably suspect are in the country illegally. We found more than 50 Americans who were held after agents questioned their citizenship. They were almost all Latino.

Agents also can arrest citizens who allegedly interfered with or assaulted officers. We compiled cases of about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, accused of assaulting or impeding officers.

Among the citizens detained are nearly 20 children, including two with cancer.
